Vandy’s gym has no AC

Don’t know how the other members of the SEC allow Vandy to be so cheap with its athletic budget. Vandy hosted a basketball game tonight with temperatures in the mid 80s outside and no air conditioning. Bush league stuff.

Don't go to an old gym. Same applies to most older venues still in use in the league. Try attending an early volleyball game at UK and 80 degrees will seem freezing by comparison.
Hard to believe a sport generally played in the winter is not air conditioned. Visit south Florida and see how many homes have furnaces.
Nut up and just to your surroundings.

Do you think all football games should be played in air conditioned domes too? If your players can’t handle a little swamp arse they picked the wrong conference baw

You’ve apparently never played competitive basketball or sat through a game as a fan in a hot gym.

At my age I can assure you I have
Back in the day, nobody had air conditioning
If you are a Tiger fan have you been in the Cow Palace?
Back in the day, they played basketball on dirt and pretty sure they never put AC in it.

Not quite the same. Playing in gym without air feels like you are playing in a greenhouse, it is suffocating. It feels way worse than just playing outside.

My high school gym had no ac but big fans on one end up high and we made it fine . I would assume Vandy would have fans? Ok, maybe not in football but at least a few for basketball

I was at a volleyball game a few years ago in a basketball gym that was built after Vanderbilt's (maybe a decade later) and it was probably close to 100 inside. I agree, it is suffocating and was worse than being outside.
You missed the point, the building was built for use in the winter so was not built with air conditioning in mind. You have a freak hot day in February. You stay and watch the game or you leave. That simple. probably cost 5 million to retrofit for an odd hot day that happens once every 25 years. No AD can justify that.

UK has those Big arse Fans in Memorial (Big arse is or was HQ in CKY) and they don't help in extreme heat. Seems like it makes it worse for throwing the hot air at the top down to the seats.

On hot days coach would have to cut them off so we could hear him talk. I remember praying for someone to cut them back on.

Classrooms didn’t have it, heck churches didn’t have it. I remember folks sitting in their Sunday best fanning themselves with the program or a hand fan.
We’ve gotten a little spoiled, and I mean me too…

Duke's sacred Cameron Indoor Stadium isn't air conditioned either.
