Very sad. UK had a player and coach battling cancer this year.

I'm told that Citadel QB Brandon Rainey and WR Raleigh Webb -- who both have TDs tonight -- do not yet know of the death of their HS teammate, Vanderbilt TE Turner Cockrell. Rainey is wearing No. 82 in Cockrell's honor

Melanoma is some scary shite. Our housekeeper had it a few years ago. She had a cough before Christmas and I asked her if she was alright. She said it was a cold she couldn't shake. After Christmas she didn't show up for work, which wasn't like her. Wouldn't answer her phone. She worked for my neighbor too and he went to her house to check. Found her out of her mind, didn't know where she was or what day it was, so he called an ambulance. Docs found stage IV melanoma. It was already in her brain. She was dead in three weeks.

Um...I'm going to assume that link is not the one you intended. If it is, I'm hoping the Hawaiian Punch cartoon has some significance that I don't know.

Was totally stunned when I heard the news. The message had always been about beating it. Just this morning, I had even written elsewhere about hoping Vandy got the Texas Bowl to be close to Cockrell. Just surreal and painful timing.
