Ray Tanner retired so Corbin actually started beating the Gamecocks a few times since 2012.

Yes. So part of the contrast you are trying to make can be explained by Corbin not being at Vanderbilt for the 2000-2002 seasons, in which we only won 21 conference games (something Corbin has done in a singular season 4 times).

It's almost as if Corbin took over a terrible program and used the first part of his tenure to build it up.
