Yep - I hate it in a social context (we all know where it is used most), but in this context there is tangible backup for determining fairness so it works.

And agree with above, there are pretty easy splits in all 4 pods where a certain split makes sense.

I don’t see why every instate school would be in the same pod except A&M.

We always have a tough schedule.

Because a pod of UT, OU, Arky, Mizzou and A&M, LSU, OM, MSU

makes more sense than

A&M, UT, Arky, Mizzou and OU, LSU, MSU, OM.

OU would be way out of place with us and A&M has already been in the SEC for a bit.

SOG, the new schedule looks pretty damn good and I can't find anything to complain about.

I actually agree with diddly that if they can figure out a way to do the conference championship I'd probably be more in favor of 4 permanents and then 5 rotational ones as it would save a bunch of games we all currently like (Alabama/LSU from our ends), but if we have to pod off.....man this looks awesome.

- Schedule is reasonably fair across the board
- Play every team in the league at least 1 time every 2 years
- Play every team in the league at home at least 1 time every 4 years

Would be pretty fun.

Because then it makes the pods unbalanced and makes pod C wonky. If you replace aTm with Arkansas for “rivalry” reasons, it’s the inferior pod with only one top level team.

Replacing them with Missouri makes even less sense from rivalry, history, and geography.

If you replace them with OU, OU is in the pod where they have no history and are geographically out of place the most.

You could replace them with UT, but then they lose their biggest rivalry game.

Basically, you’d have to replace arkansas with either UT or OU and i doubt either one wants to split up.

Plus, splitting up A&M/Texas means they play every other year..........so just think how big that every other year game would be.

Plus you don't give a slight nod to A&M by distancing them a little from Texas.

I’ll take whatever pod does not put LSU in the same pod as OU, Texas and Missouri. I’ll gladly take A&M over the newbies. I want an actual Sec schedule. Not a faux sec big12 hybrid schedule.

"God bless Pod B is a shite show. Bama would be Pod Champions in perpetuity."

Yes, no one in that pod ever beats Alabama.

I will also add that even if Alabama and Tennessee weren't in the same pod I'd be fine with it (and I'm an old soul who loves that game and rivalry regardless of who is winning or losing in it). If we are still getting to play a team every other year, I feel pretty good about that in terms of a "rivalry". It's the idea of only playing them 1 time every 4 or 5 years that really sucks.

I'm sure that format would be great, but just seeing this on paper has me wanting nothing else.

The amount of big time games every week would be incredible. I would be completely useless on fall Saturdays even more than I am now.

Imagine having primetime/game of the week type games at 11AM (unfortunate but has to happen), 230, & 6/7 damn near every weekend.

This is the reason that the SEC is open to this move. 90% of people look at this schedule and have the same reaction, and the SEC takes that into a board room with ESPN and says "you will now be paying us much more". The SEC already has cornered itself off as it's own little kingdom, but doing this and having this library of incredibly intriguing games puts it in another stratosphere.

Every weekend includes some game like Georgia/Texas or Oklahoma/Florida added to the already packed slate of LSU/Alabama, Georgia/Florida, etc etc.

Hell, even we have Scoreboard over OM, State and Tenner (+Auburn).

LSU's is cush compared to Arky.

Arky was sec long before aggy. Aggy came in last and is in the big12 pod. Sorry

Completely agree. There honestly wouldn't be enough time to follow anyone else or watch other games outside of the SEC.

The only main concern I would have is that it would kill big time OOC matchups. There would be almost no point with a schedule like this.

That's your year one schedule. What happens in year 2 when Auburn and UGA don't play? Because that's what happens with four team pods.

Pods suck arse. If we are stupid enough to add OU and Texas, the only scheduling options are either divisional play (7 divisional games and two rotating opponents) with Bama/Auburn moved to the East and Missouri to the West, or dropping divisions and going to a basketball style schedule where you play 3 permanent opponents, and rotate the other 12, six one year and the other six the next.
