The usual smack talk only the other way around as usual.
Auburn fans: Bammer's are going down!!!
Alabama fans: No way Barners!!!
Auburn fans: Yeah huh!! Clay Travis said so!!
Alabama fans: Clay Travis is a frickin poser!!!! RTR!!
It really is sad how this is the same formula that was used against us. Just switch the Auburn and Bama names around and replace Travis with SBB/Thayer/Schad.
Have we learned nothing from our past?

If you didn't know, there's like a billion page thread on these forums consisting of mostly Bama fans that "dig up" shite on Auburn and Newton daily.
I understand what you're saying and I agree with you, but you shouldn't have trouble understanding why Auburn fans are "digging up" stuff on the Alabama football program.

Steve Spurrier says, go ahead, get a loan.
quote:
“Marcus Lattimore doesn’t have a car. He’s probably had a $15-20 million impact on our school. But he can’t get a car unless a bank qualifies him for a loan. I told him the other day, ‘Go get a loan. I think you’re a good risk.”

If Julio signed autographs for this fine tailored suit, I need to have a talk with him

So the argument every one has said
Can't speak to "every one"s argument.
Mine, however, is that players sign shite. It happens. They probably had a wink-wink nudge-nudge relationship with the guy about him taking care of them when they either leave for the draft or graduate. Happens all the time in a lot of different arenas. "Hey, champ. Sign this for me..when you get out, yell at me and we'll do some business." My position is that it is against NCAA guidelines to either knowingly allow your likeness to be used for promotion or to receive something in exchange. "Knowingly" is a beautiful, grey area word. To receive something in exchange would relate to present day, not some future nudge-nudge, wink-wink deal. It is all a part of the business that is big boy college football. Everyone wants to eat the sausage, but they don't want to see it being made...

Ok so suppose you are Julio Jones (or Cam Newton or whoever) and you are at the height of your college career and a sure-fire NFL draft pick. What is to keep you from taking out a loan or racking up some credit card debt to pay for things like suits, jewelry, phones, etc.? You know (or atleast assume) that in a year, you will have an NFL contract to pay off any debts you accrue now.
Credit card applications dont have a check mark box that says "Are you a future NFL superstar?" beside it in order to give them more credit because of their status as a football player so I cant really see where the NCAA could say a damn thing about players running up credit card bills on this type of stuff.
Just my humble opinion.

I'm pretty sure a few of them have quit real life to spend multiple hours a day to call people and read internet stories, past and present, about Auburn Football and the bingo trials.
