Sumlin and Odom seem most likely in my opinion. Odom must have a large buyout to be that low.

Not going anywhere at all this year. His buyout was reported at $11M AFTER Dec of this year. Not sure if correct but this was in another Ark thread.
That is true. It would take like a 3-9 season or worse to make it a possibility. We might end up being awful but I don't think we will get that bad.
Edit: If he is let go, it will not be at 11M though.

Malzahn odds too low.
Imagine if he had lost to Mercer.

For whatever reason... IMO the Hogs just seem to start the season slow under Bielema. Not sure why. If you are going to play the Hogs do in Sept and not in November.

So they'd owe O $12 and Miles $10M or so?
Plus an expensive new coach?

It is an expensive mistake. I would assume it would cost Alleva his job too.

The schedule sets up very nicely for the Lyle train to run completely off the tracks.

I will be beside myself if VOLS roll into Lexington riding a 3 game losing streak and Mark Stoops puts the nail in Botch's coffin

Odom should be at the top with Sumlin and Butch neck and neck for second. Gus has time to right the ship. Win 7-8 more and beat Bama, they'll give him an extension.
Jeff Long may TRY to renegotiate that Bert contract, but what's in it for Bert? I can hear that conversation now:
Long: "Brett, can we talk about your buyout? Folks aren't happy that the number is so big."
Brett: "So I'm supposed to make it a little less painful to fire me? LMAO! Why the hell would I do that? You screwed the pooch, Jeff. I'm not fixing it for ya and cutting off my nose to spite my face. Live with it. Either pull the trigger or GTFO and STFU!"

Eh, 2016 really bucked that trend. We have been very good after bye weeks, look at Florida game last year. That is my main hope going into the A&M game. I know neither side is feeling good.

Jerry carries that amount of cash in his pockets.

He's whiffed on so many different levels including extending Miles. He's just not very competent in his role.

Personally, I can't decide if I'd rather Tennessee fans get all fired up for Gruden only to have him turn them down again. Or if I'd rather UT actually beat the 1,000-to-1 odds of him going back to coaching (college, no less) only for his heart to not be in it and him wash out after a couple years.
Posted on 9/18/17 at 11:10 am to SummerOfGeorge
I hope UT does hire Gruden. SEC needs more coaching juice in it and he's a name that would make a splash for sure. That said, I don't think anyone views him as this super elite coach who turns UT around in 2 years. He's never recruited before and will take time to get acclimated to that.

I really think Odom gets the boot first.

I am so glad we lost that negotiation battle

Sumlin: Played race card, bought him another year
Playing the race card likely got him fired regardless of record. If Sumlin is allowed to remain, you then have to extend him for "recruiting purposes" because a coach with only 2 years left including the current year is a dead man walking.
The best case for Sumlin is to win out and con an NFL team into hiring him.
