More than likely not an individual, but a conglomerate that moves together, in order to catch line appropriately.

Called a betting syndicate. That would be my guess spread out amoung multiple casinos. Or may just be BS.

If the SEC offices were in Baton Rouge instead of Birmingham LSU would have got that call.

I remember a blatant PI non call that led to an LSU interception in the endzone when Shula came to Bryant Denny South against a Saban coached LSU team.

The REC didn't buy the officials that game because they were saving their money to steal Saban from LSU by way of Miami.

LT on JOX just said a person he didn't want to name on air that lays huge bets in Vegas put 10M on Bama collectively today in some Vegas casinos. Anyone know who this may be?

FTR, it doesn't make me feel any better about Bama's chances. I would just like to know who lays this much money on a game

That was me. I did some math as to how much an LSU win was worth and how much money I would need to make to dry up my tears if LSU lost. 10 mega large was the magic number.

Besides, someone gave Landon Collins more than 10 million so I had some spare cash laying around.

Danny Sheridan said today on Finebaum he estimated the betting on the game to be in the billions. That makes 10 million a drop in the bucket.

And before you start the Sheridan and bag man remarks, I'm just quoting a guy who gets paid as a handicapper by USA Today. I assume when it comes to this subject, he may know what he is talking about.

Obviously an OT baller. There are at least 25 posters on the OT that this could have been.

It bama wins: the $10m bettor will come forward or it will suddenly "leak".

If LSU wins: the $10m bettor will remain anonymous. Can't blame him. Nobody wants to be the guy who lost $10m on a coin flip. You win and you're an OT baller who has that change laying around.

Just when you thought a guy could not be any more dumb...

Largest handle (amount bet) on the superbowl (largest gambling event each year) was $94.5 million a few years ago. That is less than 10 percent of $1B.

Damn Sheridan is an idiot. Or you just didn't comprehend what he said.

quote:

2008 $92,055,833 $ 2,573,103 -2.8 New York Giants 17, New England 14

2007 $93,067,358 $ 12,930,175 13.9 Indianapolis 29, Chicago 17

2006 $94,534,372 $ 8,828,431 9.3 Pittsburgh 21, Seattle 10

2005 $90,759,236 $ 15,430,138 17.0 New England 24, Philadelphia 21

2004 $81,242,191 $ 12,440,698 15.3 New England 32, Carolina 29

2003 $71,693,032 $ 5,264,963 7.3 Tampa Bay 48, Oakland 21

2002 $71,513,304 $ 2,331,607 3.3 New England 20, St. Louis 17

2001 $67,661,425 $ 11,002,636 16.3 Baltimore 34, New York Giants 7

2000 $71,046,751 $ 4,237,978 6.0 St. Louis 23, Tennessee 16

Last year's superbowl total bets was $87 million FYI.

Current Vegas odds:

quote:

Vegas Odds
Las Vegas Hilton -0, 40
Mirage - 1, 40
Caesars - 1.5, 40
The Orleans 2, 40

The first number is the spread, the second is the total. So the line ranges from a flat pick-em at the Hilton to Bama -2 at the Orleans.

I've only heard this guy's name when people discuss that ATPB thread or the Auburn thing. I didn't follow it. Who the hell is this genius?

Vegas insider (lol). Oddsmaker for US today, except he basically justs posts odds from one of the vegas casino in the newspaper, so he actually has no input and is not an actual oddsmaker. Was a deginerate gambler when he was younger.

Basically he is a totally ignorant assclown. I think that is why gumps like him. They relate to him well.

ETA: Oh yeah, as a funny aside, I won $500 from a bet with an idiot gump buddy of mine right after Sheridan said he knew about a "bagman" with the Cam thing. Got in an arguement with my buddy who kept insisting this was it and AU was about to be fricked. Bet him $500 that Sheridan was full of shite and nothing would happen. Easiest $500 bet ever.

This sounds like complete BS to me. If he is "a idiot gump" why are you friends with him? and why would he even have 500 dollars to bet?

Nice edit for a BS story

Nope. 110% true. And we have been friends since college. He went to AU because he wanted a good education. Crazy bastard would sit in the visitor section and cheer for the other team at games though.

Swear to God on the bet. He talked a bunch of shite, pissed me off so I told him to put up or shut up, $500 on whether AU gets in trouble. So, he put up and now he has shut up.
