You're take is either every other kid on the roster is just electing to not receive their agreed compensation because they have no backbone and are just OK with it or UNLV is electing to pay every single player on the roster their agreed NIL deal with exception of the starting qb.
My take will be this kid got short changed if UNLV collective doesn't have strong response to this w/n 48 hours.

He didn’t receive the money that was owed to him
And we know this for a fact because of… one statement from the guy who is quitting. I am sure he is not biased in any way.
I am too young to be a boomer. But I have been around long enough to know you can’t automatically trust what someone says, there are two sides to every story, and the truth is usually found somewhere in the middle.
What if, and I am just wondering out loud, the guy did get paid what he was owed so far. But realizing this is his last year of eligibility if he plays the season out, and he has another school offering him a bigger pay day next year, he decided to quit this season so he could retain his red shirt status for this season. That would allow him to sign another NIL deal next season. Just a thought.

This is a black eye on UNLV unless they come out w evidence that this isn’t true.
How so? Did UNLV give him a scholarship? That's all they are obligated to do. NIL was supposed to be used by advertisers using Name, Image or Likeness.

UNLV by proxy, of course it's on the collective but the collective is the NIL arm of the school.

YUP, Dick move by the QB. This type of shite needs to be regulated.
He's a 5th year senior and graduate transfer. Assuming he's thinking he has enough game this year to demand more money if he quits now and goes on the block.

It’s over when us fans say it’s over.

Wait until the players sue to be able to transfer mid-season and play immediately.

It is weird to see all the people rushing to this guys defense without knowing what is actually going on. I am betting some of the responses won’t age well.

I hate NIL and want it capped.
But, this kid isn’t going to the NFL and UNLV lied to him on his last chance to get paid for sports. I wouldn’t work if my employer paid me less than the offer letter.

No one has seen it like this in reality in a few years now. NIL is actually Pay for Play. No one is even trying to hide it. Making this argument is being obtuse for the sake of being obtuse.

So your take is the kid got short changed and every other kid on the team got exactly what they had asked for?The Genius staff elected that the one person that they wouldn't honor their NIL agreements on was the quarterback? That's what you think happened? You don't believe its possible some other team with deeper pockets was interested in him and potentially made him a higher offer than he agreed to with UNLV, he took that offer to UNLV, they told him they couldn't match and now he is sitting out to remain eligible for an additional season to get the other offer?

QB probably has the most expensive NIL deal. Probably made agreements based on projected money in the NIL collective account. Money never showed up. They went to him and told him they didn't have it and what they promised him wasn't what he was going to get.
