"he holds a BA in comparative literature and an MA in ethnic studies from UC Berkeley and an MFA from UC Riverside. His guiding principle is diversity in the service of democracy."

R.I.P. UFlorida. Couldn't happen to a nicer group of people.

That’s all I need to hear to know this individual will rip your University apart from the inside.

It's a shame the way they pay people who have no real work responsibilities. Your tax dollars at work.

The next time UF has a current student call me to beg for money I’m going to suggest they hit up Mr. Farias instead.

I was stunned to learn how well higher education administration jobs paid when I first worked in a university structure. So, it is not really a surprising salary, now.

Average pay for the same position at public universities is 116k. At top flagship universities, it is $175,088.
quote:

University of Virginia Vice President and Chief Officer for Diversity and Equity Marcus Martin, for instance, earns $349,000 annually (the highest of any salary identified by Campus Reform), while University of Texas at Austin Vice President for Diversity and Engagement Gregory Vincent pulls in a comparable $331,000 per year. LINK

As UF is a top school that has a great academic reputation, good student body population, and 3rd highest endowments in the SEC, it isn't really surprising they'd spend 280k on a position designed to promote the University to a broad population in a healthy light and, yes, protect its investments.

That was such a goddamn bullshite story, too. Twitter manwhore who graduated from Florida just to try and throw the University under the bus immediately after. I hate that dude with all of my heart because he knows it didn't just happen to black students.

What happened recently for this guy to get hired?

Random question - are these positions filed by minorities?

Florida was also out front in hiring a NCAA compliance officer and has not been on probation since that time.

This is an insurance policy and PR against future issues like the graduation incident this year.
I look for the rest of the conference to follow UF's lead like they always do.

Really? So in your world it was better during the Jim Crow era when only white males were hired for important jobs? And you feel nonwhites are automatically considered unqualified. All white is automatically better. And all whites are better qualified and smarter than all nonwhites? Sounds about right for those of you ilk. Diversity is bad.
