Understanding state funded universities

15 of the 16 schools in the SEC are funded by their state governments. Their presidents and Boards are considered “arms of the state” which means the universities are also arms of the state. The athletic programs at these schools exist by law and by the pleasure of the people of the states, not the SEC.
By naming LSU and its Board of Supervisors in its lawsuit, the SEC is, by proxy, filing suit against the state of Louisiana. That’s not going to end well for the SEC as the interests and will of the people of Louisiana and its courts supersede the will of the SEC.

I dont know. Cannot say I’m impressed with anything in Louisiana these days. Worst state may be too generous for the idiocy displayed by the idiots in the bayou.

So you think Louisiana is going to win a war against Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and Kentucky. Maybe. But history has shown when you go to war with your neighbors you don’t just lose, you get routed and run out of the country.

No, I’m saying that the SEC must abide by the laws and court decisions of the state of Louisiana when it operates in the state of Louisiana. The SEC is not an agency of the Federal government that supersedes state law just because it operates in multiple states. The SEC cannot tell one of its member institutions to ignore the laws and court orders its state issues.

The SEC can just ditch Louisiana. Pretty easy to do. LSU has done nothing but make a mess and turn an entire conference against them. Will anyone miss Louisiana? I’m glad people have moved from Louisiana so I don’t have to visit to eat the food.
