This all could have been avoided if they had just 1 person go up to the guys and tell them, “hey, sorry to interrupt but we are firing our pregame ceremonial cannon and you’re right in it’s path. can y’all move over here with me?”
This is the culture problem I mentioned. Procedure and orders often outweigh common sense.
The corps consider themselves "keepers of the spirit and guardians of tradition" of A&M, but IMO, they tend to devote themselves so forcefully to the latter that they often end up unintentionally undermining the former. And I believe exactly that mentality is the root cause of what happened yesterday.

Everyone in the SEC hates A&M! Maybe this will get them banned and thrown out of the SEC!!!

Can you prove this? Word around College Station is they were warned and that was validated by eyewitnesses
It does not matter if they were warned. You dumb fricks violated the very basics of firearm safety by firing a weapon despite knowing there were people down range. Every weapon is to be treated as if it’s loaded whether or not you’re firing blanks or live rounds. For a school that boasts about its military history and tradition not a single one of you grasps that basic concept

Because Eric Dickerson took his college station trans am and took his game to Dallas, TX…

It is past time for the SEC to take action against aTm. This is the final straw.

Even if he was told and didn’t move, it was a bad decision by 4$8 to shoot the cannon at him

fricking court marshal those assholes. Somebody needs to put a stop to this terrible gimmick

Yeah, tell that to Alec Baldwin.

I hope not, you're one of the better aggies.

I hope that shortly A&M will release a statement of apology and take responsibility for a mistake rather than circle the wagons.

How about that code dumbass?
The person who pulls the trigger, or gives the order to pull the trigger is always responsible.
That's basic military stuff, you'd think the people at A&M would know that.
When I was a gunner, I did not get to just shoot randomly(at least not legally or within proper procedures). I had to get permission from the commander before firing each round into a target. And it's so the commander can identify and verify it's a valid target and that the shot is safe etc. It's kind of a big deal.
So if someone is going to fire a weapon like that, even blanks which can be dangerous at close range, there is always someone who is responsible for making sure things are cleared and it's safe.
That person fricked up here.

There’s really no difference between the two incidents imo. When you violate basic firearm safety people get hurt or killed. Whether you fail at multiple points to check a pistol on a movie set and kill someone or you fire a cannon at people, being fully aware they are downrange, there is zero excuse.

There is a huge difference actually. Alec Baldwin isn't responsible for the death of the actress because he was the actor who pulled the trigger, he's responsible because he was the producer of the film and was ultimately responsible for the insufficient safety controls that led to an actor pulling the trigger on set and firing a live round. It just so happens he was also the actor. Had another actor in the film been the one to pull the trigger, Baldwin still would have been responsible.
But this is a derail of the topic at hand. Just pointing out that the situations are actually quite different from one another, and ultimately not comparable.
