We need to get another home and home on the schedule with the irish. They bring a lot to the table from a marketing perspective.

with all the other premier h/hs we've got I don't see the point in this. To go along with our already difficult enough SEC schedule.

they do, which has nothing to do with CBS's deal with SEC home games.

Was it on NBC last year (or whenever you played them there?)

I'm pretty sure it happened in 2011

ETA - I mean CBS having two prime time goes. You're right that 2010 was the last time LSU/Alabama was at 2:30

Yes, becuase CBS's contract for SEC home games has nothing to do with games played at Notre Dame lol.

None of these contracts are unique...CBS has a deal to do SEC home games. ABC has a deal for ACC home games. NBC has one for ND home games. They all operate the same way mostly and it is based on the home venue. This year's game is in Athens, so NBC has absolutely nothing to do with the broadcast. It will either be on CBS, an ESPN family network, or SECN. Those are the only possible options.

Thanks. I wasn't being a smartass. Sorry I'm actually trying to have a discussion without flaming about 1980 or $cam

I know, I hope I didn't come across as one either. But yeah that's pretty much how it works. If you haven't noticed before, you'll realize that most ACC games you watch are either on ABC or an ESPN family. Every ND home game you watch is on NBC or an ESPN family, etc.

There are different levels to the picks as well. This may have changed but it USED to be for SEC games...CBS got first pick (3:30 game of the week), then ESPN got their picks, then SECN got leftovers. There USED to be a caveat where once or twice a year ESPN could pull a trump card and pick one weekend to get first pick, but I don't think that exists anymore. CBS has 2 weekends a year where they get a double header, one with a game at ~330/4 and another at 8, and anohter at noon/4.

That's the interesting thing about the OP if that is indeed correct...it would likely mean bama/lsu is not the night game this year.

I was just curious because I don't think we play anybody with an network contract like they do and just wondered how it worked. Similar to AFC-NFC matchups, I suppose.
Props to UGA for playing a home and home though. I'd much rather travel to another campus than someplace like Dallas or Atlanta. It makes it much more interesting.

THE LSU Bama game will be a much better game. ND has ZERO chance at being competitive. Georgia will name their score.

No problem...UGA/UF/SC/UK are probably more familiar since we play an ACC opponent every year. When we go over there it's either on ABC or ESPN but when we play at home it's CBS/ESPN/SECN.

When was the last time Bama and LSU kicked off at 2:30 CST? I’m seriously asking I’m guessing 2010?

LSU has far more talent than ND. They don’t even have the athletes to compete with Georgia. LSU has a chance in every game they play based on talent alone.

they lost by 29 at home last year in a shutout. They lsot by 2 TDs last time in tuscaloosa.

On paper sure it may look "more even" but LSU lately hasn't shown they're capable of keeping it close with bama. Not sure why anyone would think otherwise based on the talent and coaching bama continues to trot out.

Yea 2011 was originally set for 230. CBS had already used their prime time slot for Bama Florida. I think they worked out some deal with ESPN when they realized it would be 1 vs 2
