UGA fans, how concerned are you with the RB depth?

Kirby wants to play murder ball but if you don't have the bell cow RB how will that work?

Don't you mean Saban?

We take what the defense gives.

Somewhat concerned. Even when all are healthy there isn’t a home run hitter among them. Lots of chatter about walk-on Cash Jones getting significant playing time. Losing Justice Haynes to Bama likely to hurt.

Kendall Milton is a home run hitter.
6.86 yards per rush.
9 TDs last season.

He is elite when healthy.
Staying healthy has been a challenge.

We have plenty of good depth. And we have lots of ways to "run" the football (jet toss to Bowers, McConkey, Arian Smith... we have a huge screen game).

We haven’t played murder ball in a while.

This doesn't make any sense...but, to answer your question, we have tools in the toolbox. I wasn't happy to see our 3rd string Branson Robinson go out for the season, but it's always a committee thing at UGA, anyway.

Not worried or overly concerned. If Beck is competent with his passing, and I do expect him to be, we have more than enough weapons for him to utilize.

Not concerned. FB is a passing game now, and backups often kill clocks just fine

My biggest RB related concern is who’s our pass catching threat out of the backfield. Cook and McIntosh have been great there for a couple years but not sure who that guy is now.

Milton if healthy.

Cash Jones is #2.

UGA has been RB by committee for Kirby's entire tenure.

Initially, Chubb and Michel split carries with Swift sometimes playing H-back just to get him on the field.

In 2022, McIntosh had 150 carries while Edwards had 140. Three-five had 85, 68, and 57 respectively.

In 2021, White had 160 carries and Cook had 113.

As long as the OL plays well, UGA should get production with the RBs that are on the roster.

They say he is the fastest and pound for pound strongest RB in the room.

That doesn't sound right. But maybe he is an athletic freak that escaped Texas football for the good guys.

I know that I had no clue of who he was during that game. I had to do some light reading on his background and was more than shocked to see that he was a walk on. He certainly didn't carry himself as such.

I know they’re both fine at it, I just doubt they’re the threat that Cook or McIntosh were in that role. Both could have been legitimately good slot receivers.

No. Because they were abusing linebackers.

Do you know what they would be good at? Abusing linebackers in coverage.

Home run hitter = Somebody who breaks a tackle at the 25 and out runs the D for 75 yards. Gurley, Chubb, Michel and Swift were home run hitters. Milton is not.

They abused all sorts of people through their time in Athens, linebackers included.

I’m just saying that they were both drafted largely due to their ability as pass catchers. We haven’t seen that from anyone on the roster right now.

Agree to disagree.
In 2022, he had 8 rushing TDs in 85 attempts.
6 rushes for 20+ yards.
15 rushes for 10+ yards.
23 rushes for 1st down.

In 2019, Swift had 7 rushing TDs in 196 attempts.
11 rushes for 20+ yards (196 attempts).
39 rushes for 10+ yards (196 attempts).
52 rushes for first down.

Not in pass coverage.

They would not have the same success against DBs.

I don't think Milton is better than Cook as a receiver.
And he probably isn't better than McIntosh as a receiver.

But Milton was hurt last season. It didn't really play in his favor to compete for those reps.

Kenny caught 43 passes. But only 2 were for TDs. 11.72 yards per catch.

Kendall caught 5 passes. One for TD.
12.8 yards per catch.

Kendall is a significantly better athlete and ballcarrier than Kenny.
Give him a chance.
