The issue though is that the rape kit isn't 100% in determining if it was consensual or non-consensual sex.
So if it isn't in question that they had sex - all it does is corroborate that.
Non-consensual evidence would need to be found in addition, like bruises and other defensive injuries on the victim and the accused. Which would all still be there the day after.
But if the victim was really drunk, it becomes really hard to prove one way or the other. Especially if the accused was drunk too and consent was "perceived" but not certain. That's why they passed a law in California putting more legal responsibility on men - requiring them to have a FIRM yes before having sex. This is to protect drunk women, more than anything.
It's really a huge mess. And without definitive proof of assault, it's hard to really convict Harris of anything, but given the environment in the United States right now regarding sexual assault, unless it comes out that this was clearly BS, I bet that Harris is done at UF.

Rape usually doesn't for someone who is an athlete given how much pussy is thrown at those guys. Doesn't mean it doesn't happen, but on the flipside it tends to make for some false accusations too.
It's not about the sex for rapists, it's about control. Consensual sex doesn't offer them the same thrill.

Then maybe she denied it? I have no idea.
ETA: I was literally just throwing out a scenario for why it may be "just" he said, she said.

I think a lot of UF's reaction (the president now speaking about it) is to combat the public perception FSU had when dealing with Jameis.
Problem is if this is just for perception's sake, they're doing it at the expense of Harris.

The chant and Muschamp's quote after wasn't a big deal. Too much overreaction on both sides.
I think the chant was a big deal. Muschamp's quote afterward was less of a big deal, but still really disrespectful to those of us who were treating his team and fans with dignity, as we would want to be treated. He gets paid a lot of money and could have done without showing his arse, though I get why he did it.
But that chant embarrassed me as an alum and a fan. I expect better and I am constantly let down.

That was my point, that just because he's an athlete who could reasonably get laid doesn't mean he can't be a rapist.
But that also doesn't mean that he is just because there's an accusation either. We've seen both play out with athletes quite publicly.

Will we look back on this incident as the final nail in Muschamps coffin?

If the hypercritical, reactionary atmosphere surrounding sexual assault on campus, especially by athletes, results in kids thinking twice before getting involved with a drunk female who is legally incapable of consenting . . . GOOD.
Hats off to UF. Machen doesn't do much right these days, but this looks like its being handled well. Whatever happened With Treon, I hope the truth comes out and justice is served.
