Too bad they refused to let him play last year when Milroe was stinking games up.

Either Simpson improved significantly this past off-season, or both Saban and DeBoer made ridiculous decisions at the QB position.

If he had half the hype of Arch Manning he’d be the biggest Heisman landslide ever

If I'm assembling an SEC all star team I'm choosing him and Joey Aguilar as co starters. Easily the two best QBs in the conference and both give all glory to God and Jesus. No coincidence.

John Mateer was being touted as a 2026 first round pick prior to injuring his hand.

And he has a great OL that gives him max protection even when we were constantly blitzing.

Maybe. I still have an image of him shivering in fear against Florida State while running for his life with tears running down his cheeks.

Better hope that version doesn’t show back up. Or God forbid that he has to play from behind against some team.

I never understood this. This was Saban's worst move and really could have been an underlying factor in his retirement. It seems like he kind of lost his good sense of judgment.

The locker room had aligned itself behind Milroe and that’s a well-known fact. See the USF game in Saban’s last year. There were guys tanking plays because Milroe didn’t start and we damn near lost. Even a legendary coach isn’t gonna have an answer for this. It ain’t like the old days. Throw in that stupid portal and you can lose a team both literally and figuratively.

Did you watch the same game I did?

He didn't play badly for his first start on the road in a very hostile environment in bad weather. You saw what you wanted to see. He played alright not a worldbeater but well enough.

23-43-254 2 td's 0 turnovers under a lot of pressure with some drops by the WR's.

If Ty had played last year, Bama probably loses to LSU and Georgia, but wins all the other games.

I think he should have come in vs Oklahoma and Michigan. Hell he could have hardly done worse.Probably the team would have been better off playing a two QB system last year much like Saban did with Tua and Hurts.

Go with the hot hand that way you wouldn't have had the late season disaters and you still beat UGA and LSU.

Your spot on with this take, milroe had the core of the team stay and not transfer when saban retired.
Kalen was loyal to him for that and knew that if he benched him that the team would revolt like it did against USF in 23 when saban supended him for that game after he went off on coaches after the Texas game. He was very well liked by his team and half of the team would have layed down on kalen if he benched him , kalen was in a pickle and that's why he basically told milroe that he either had to go to the NFL or transfer after the season.
Simpson was the better option last year but he was never going to see the field because of politics by (team leaders).

When I was younger I might have given a care. Now? Not very much. I’m numb to the portal at this point. I honestly think one of the most impressive things I’ve seen with it is that KD didn’t lose much to it in this past offseason.
