Maybe the ref hosed them bad. I know a few SEC refs I wouldn't have minded seeing that happen to. Marc Curles during the hog gator game in 09 comes to mind.

Just another symptom of the "pump up their self esteem, give them anything they want, there is a medical condition for their bad choices, don't be too hard on them, they are entitled" spoiled brat society we live in.

There was one ref who was a total dick when I was in HS I would have loved to hit. Some of these guys are on a major power trip.

One of my good friends is the softball coach there. I'll have to find out.

Coach needs to:
put them in the Oklahoma drill
have them run gassers
then kick them off
and escort them to the police for arrest.

According to media reports, the two players have been suspended from the team and from school. There will be a "due process" hearing on Tuesday as the investigation continues.

As a retired coach and principal, looks to me that the school district is getting its ducks in a row by following Federal law by having the hearing. You usually have one of those when you plan to suspend a student to alternative school in Texas.

Also I did talk to my friend that was the softball coach there. She said that the school, while in a suburban school district with a very good reputation, that school was having inner city issues. She has moved on to work in an inner city district there and says she has much better disciplined students and players there.

No question criminal charges should be filed, kicked off the team, and out of the school.

They will end up at Miami though.

It's up to the referee affected to file charges. The Austin paper where the official came from said that is a real possibility.

Media in San Antonio say that one of the players is listed as a sophomore so he would probably be charged as a minor and the other is a senior so probably charged as an adult.

Saddens me to see this. How ignorant can those kids be not to realize they would be charged with crimes and spend time in jail for assault. Culture of violence in the real world causing it. Kids think they can do anything without consequences.

Wow. Blindsided and neck snapped back like that, he could've gotten seriously paralyzed if not killed.

There should definitely be charges filed.
