Tusk V, the live mascot of the University of Arkansas Razorbacks, passed away on Sunday afternoon, January 15, 2023, at his home outside of Dardanelle, Ark. Tusk V died of natural causes and was laid to rest on the Stokes Family farm.
Born April 19, 2018, Tusk V served as the official live mascot of the Razorbacks from 2019-22. Within that span, Arkansas turned in the two most successful years in the history of the program, including a pair of top-10 finishes in the Learfield Directors’ Cup and 18 combined SEC Championships, more than double the championships of the next closest SEC program (7).

They have a memorandum of understanding signed with his replacement!

RIP tusk… he’s in mascot heaven with the 14 UGAs who have died the last six years.

Based on rumblings, I'm afraid Uga X (10) is on his way out too.
Sad to hear about tusk.

This is all just very mean and not funny at all!

What breed of boar was he? Not a troll question. My wife worked in pig research at UGA for a couple years and says 5 is pretty young.

Is 5 years a normal lifespan for a hog?

We don't talk about that semester.

I believe that line is a Russian Boar? If I'm not mistaken.
Edit: Found this.
quote:
Born Saturday, April 19 at the Stokes Family Farm in Dardanelle, Arkansas, Tusk V is the son of the current Arkansas Razorbacks’ live mascot, Tusk IV, a Russian boar which closely resembles the type of “wild band of razorback hogs,” first described by then Arkansas head football coach Hugo Bezdek in 1909.

UGAX is aging. Not sure he is ill. The next UGA will probably be the young pup who is being evaluated and trained. UGA X might retire. One of the former UGAs did. Had a passing of the spiked collar ceremony at one of the games. He handed over his collar and air conditioned dog house to his son and went into retirement.
I’m sorry to hear about Tusk. Mascots are beloved by the fans and it’s a sad thing when they pass away.

Too bad the piggies lost a mascot, but ... "died of natural causes."
These things only live five years?
