The SEC city with the highest violent crime rate is actually Nashville. That's really disappointing.
Well when you take into account the absolute arse beating that Vandy put on Bama last year, it actually makes sense using updated statistics.

I make this same comparison when people bring up Tuscaloosa — you can spend years at Alabama and never step foot in the areas in question.
Not sure why people are so eager to directly correlate crime on a university campus with that of the fifth-largest city in Alabama as a whole.

Monroe (home of ULM) has a violent crime rate of 20.96 per 1k.

Which applies to the rest of the SEC.

When Pavia was healthy, Vandy also beat Virginia Tech, Kentucky, Auburn, and Georgia Tech (who played Georgia to 8 OTs).
There were probably some couches burned in The Gulch.

Why is a criminal defense firm in Salt Lake City posting a list of most dangerous cities? And why is a SECRant poster referencing it?
This is proof that anyone can post anything on the internet and someone will run with it.

its crazy how people from Alabama say Birmingham is God's country and the greatest city in America. One guy I know say its the prettiest city in the country

quote:I live in Tuscaloosa, and the areas around the stadium and the Strip have been gentrified to hell and back over the past fifteen years. It's basically stacks upon stacks of "luxury student housing" towers.
Leaving the stadium last fall after our game, I was shocked at the demographics around the strip and pretty much everywhere surroudning the general vicinity of the stadium. The last game I'd gone to in Ttown prior to that was 2020 which I suppose is an outlier, and it was 2011 before that. Things have definitely changed.
The games, like SEC games everywhere, have become so expensive to attend that lower income people basically can't go to them anymore. The crowds are wealthier than they've ever been in the history of college football.
Where in the heck did you go that you were "shocked by the demographics?"

I’m assuming Baton Rouge was #1

Yeah, no shite. That is pretty much the case in every college town.

I literally know not a single person who says Birmingham is the greatest city in the country. Not one.

A Salt Lake City firm of defense attorneys that list 20 lawyers on staff.
OK....
OK....

He didn't.
Condos directly across the street from the stadium sell for $2 million.

Baton Rouge 10.11
Gainesville 7.52
Tuscaloosa 5.84
One of these is so bad that a significant portion of the city recently seceded

And that’s while they’ve been good. Gonna get a lot worse now that they can’t play defense.

Maaaaan. Im a Baton Rouge kid, grew up on the corner of East Brookstown and St. Gerard. We moved in 1986. You really have to try to be more dangerous than Baton Rouge.

"Tuscaloosa, home to the University of Alabama, ranks second with 149 crimes per 10,000 residents. Much of the risk is tied to areas with heavy nightlife activity, where alcohol-related incidents and thefts are more common," the article states. "The city's mix of student renters and visiting sports fans can also create conditions for opportunistic crime."
