Sounds like the exact scenario LSU just had with Kelly.

Jimbo
Riley
Reset search and landed on kelly

100%. I think they made a run at Jimbo that didnt really go anywhere but they were hard core in the negotiations with Riley but he was only using LSU to leverage USC

Obvious to anyone with half a brain

So you’re saying Woody dislodged Kelly from ND in a few days time? You definitely have half a brain.

Why does it matter? Saban wasn't Bama's first choice, and I'd say that worked out just fine.

It really doesnt but fans, not just LSU fans, cannot admit that they got turned down.

False. Fans want to create this false narrative that no one would ever turn down the team that they care so much about. I remember lsubfans giving Bama fans shite because Rich Rod turned them down but I’d say it worked out fine for us.

Saban, then kelly. Or vice versa

This. I think SW decided on this before he dismissed O. Picked his guy when Saban said no and laughed as the fans/media played the guessing game.

They are friends, he reached out to Saban too, but that does not mean an offer was in place or even made.

Saban was Moores first choice. He turned us down. We ended up with Rod... then he backed out after hire was announced.

Moore then went back to trying to convince Saban again and managed to after the dolphins season ended.

You think the BK thing happened a week ago? He's coaching a number 6 or so team that has a slight, but potential, chance at a playoff spot. You're not just going to pull that out of a hat overnight.

So he waited until yesterday (?) to announce it, spent 10 minutes with his team, and was outta there?
Man, PLEASE don't try to sell that shite! It only make YOU look stupid.

I love everyone down voting this. It's been documented numerous times in articles, interviews, etc involving both Moore, Saban, etc.

This was when Saban told Mal Moore on the trip back to Tuscaloosa, "you may not have hired the best football coach in the country, but NOBODY'S gonna out recruit me!"

It's very likely he was the first choice, but I'll accept the rant's line of thinking that LSU can have a seemingly unattainable coach as their backup plan.
