This is asinine. Auburn gets to shoulder their brunt of all of this because they involved themselves in the matter when they easily could have told him to go JUCO and get back with them in a year. It doesn't help, either, that AU has a history of taking on kids that ran into serious trouble while at another SEC school (Nick Marshall and Cam). Public perception hasn't been kind to AU in the past decade, why would it suddenly ignore this?

See...its AU's fault they took a kid that they have every right to and had built a relationship with when recruiting him while in high school.

Shame on AU for fielding a poor defense and then making an attempt to fix it.

... by taking on a kid with disciplinary issues. You're purposely ignoring the part where Tray stole money from the University before mouthing off to a teacher and being subsequently dismissed. This is another case of just because you can doesn't mean you should. And if you do, don't wonder why people are talking bad about you for doing it.

I'm not thrilled with taking second chance kids, but there isn't a ton of risk.

UGA takes bad apples out of high school, has tons of arrests, lets some of them linger, etc. I don't think any school is really different. If Matthews is a problem he'll be swiftly dispatched from AU.

As for Richt, I don't think he's responsible for someone like Matthews, but I do think a regime change will be needed to foster an environment where fewer kids are lost to persistent behavior issues. It's tough to go after really cocky high school kids and keep them in line, as we found with Chizik.

Serious question....were there any concerns about him when he was recruited?

Richt doesn't have any control of UGA's drug test policies. That's really the main area where we have significantly more issues than our peers.

AU still recruits the same players.

So what? Teams take HS kids annually that get in trouble in HS. UGA has done it just like every school.

CMR let this kid go to any school that he wanted to and he asked if he could walk on at AU and the coaches said yes. What is asinine is that ppl want to vilify AU who played no part in the actions of the kid while at UGA nor the manner in which he was allowed to leave.

Why did you apply to Auburn as a UGA fan?

In case I didn't get into a better school?

Only the stupidest of the rant argues about made up shite knowingly...

AU sidewalk fans freak at the hint of UGA moral ethics.

UGA curbcult blathers incessantly about oversigning and appearance of player pandering.

Please God let football season start or send me a free cruse vacation until September...

If I know that a car has high mileage and a tendency for the brakes to fail but choose to buy it anyway, should I expect for you to feel bad for me when it breaks down?

Point is that I think we're approaching them better. I think Chizik did it poorly and it showed. I think Richt has had some issues for a while now, and it's probably just a staleness issue. Sometimes you just need fresh faces to keep the environment where it needs to be.

We know the kid has attitude issues, we're not asking for sympathy if we have to boot him.

Kind of dumb to apply to a school that you have so little respect for. Had you not gotten into anything else, your choices would have been that school or no school.

So Tray's gonna be paying out of state tuition for a year at AU? That'll be a hefty bill.
