Yea I mean I don't blame Mullen - just because Trask has been really good doesn't mean the risk/reward was worth making a change when Franks wasn't terrible.
It's a lot like the Hurts/Tua thing. You can't just yank your QBs around like running backs (unless you are Spurrier).
However, he could have started Trask against Miami in 2019. He didn't. He started Franks.
Cuz mullen is an idiot that rides on luck and praise. He's not the worst coach ever, but he's not a good one either. But, ppl like him and Hugh Freeze do good work.
And Florida fans are delusional about this because they want mullen to succeede, but know it likely won't happen. Hell, shark boy won the East 2x in a row, they got rid of him. Florida fans liked him when he was winning.

Agree, which why it's ironic that he's saying just because Trask broke his foot before he managed to start a game in 2018 means he was never given a shot.
That take is bad to the point of it seeming like a troll imo.

Pretty sure he’s trolling in this thread but yes I somewhat agree.

Sorry, I was thinking UK was around the 4th-5th game of the season that year.

Was that the game FF flicked off (?) the Florida crowd?

Trask broke his foot the week he was slated to start against South Carolina in 2018.
That injury kept him out in the Spring of 2019.
Did Mullen stepped on his foot?

The OP said Trask was given a shot, won the job with his performance against Missouri, was supposed to start against South Carolina, then got hurt.
And yet there was not one piece of proof that he had won the job. I mean, he did well when he went in there, no doubt. But that is a far cry from, "He won the job."
Again, I will say it. He never started a game in 2018, and he did not start a game until Franks got hurt in 2019. That is a far cry from his winning the job. I can pull up post after post of Florida fans saying Trask would never be a starter, and he would barely get to play. They obviously either have no clue and just made their comments up, or they read media reports and saw comments made by Mullen.

Not sure what’s all complicated about that.

Honestly I did, too. I did not remember Franks getting hurt that early. Trask is an excellent QB, though, and I think head and shoulders above Franks. I'm glad he got a shot to play. His back story is great, and he seems like a good kid.

I absolutely am not. Look, I have said and I meant that I meant no disrespect to Mullen, but I do believe he mismanaged Trask. Hey, at some point every program does. We did with Fields.....there are always players, for whatever reason that get read wrong.
Maybe they do not practice well? I have played with players that practiced like All-Americans and just could not pull the trigger on game days. I also played with players who looked like they had never stepped on a football field in their lives during practice and then lit up the stadium on game day.
It COULD be that Mullen did no misjudge him, but maybe he just didn't show enough in practice.

Thank you. I try not to troll. I do have to admit that every once in a while.
And, again. It was no disrespect intended to Trask. I have liked him ever since he became a starter. he is for real, and I think will give Florida a punchers chance against Alabama.

UF insiders said that week he was the starter that week. Mullen never publicly put it out there.

That's not winning the job. He was likely going to get the start for the USCe game but we'll never know how much of a leash he was going to be on. Hell, he could thrown an int on the first drive and Mullen might have rotated QBs all game.
But what is even the point of the OP? Mullen went with experience at QB to start the 2018 season. Nothing controversial there. Florida was winning enough pre UGA that sticking with Feleipe could be defended. After FF's dismal performance against Mizzou Mullen appeared ready to give Trask a shot before his injury. Not unreasonable to wait until that point to make the switch given how the season was going.
Still, Mullen again went with Franks as the starter in 2019. He arguably should have had FF on a shorter lease to start the 2019 season and if not for the FF injury, UF likely loses to Kentucky. Now, maybe Mullen would have given Trask another shot as early as the next week against Tennessee but it likely would have come at the expense of another L because the switch wasn't made sooner.
Look, Mullen has exceeded expectations and we are all happy with what he's done but you can certainly make the argument that the QB change should have happened before an injury forced it.

I think OP is pissed off because theres been a push on this board thats sort of taken off more lately that Mullen refused to play Trask, which isn't exactly true.
