Perhaps at Auburn but not in the real world.

The difference between him being a racist a-hole and most regular folks. We may have a few preconceived thoughts based on race but we’re not spouting it out constantly when talking to our mom then posting it on the Internet. It flowed off his tongue fairly easily wouldn’t you say? Maybe y’all are relating to him so easily because you’re a racist a-hole too?

As typical, you are being a little bitch in this thread. Not using common sense. Spunky, though a little harsh, is actually correct. And you know it

He is correct that we all use more racist terms in our house? No way, my parents wanted to set a better example for me and I want to set a better example for my children. Having that shite fly around your household is what gets a Donald Trump elected.

If he would have said “you have thought worse things in your head” I would buy it. But not around the house.

I have not defended anyone. You should probably read my statement again if you can.

True, but not because I espouse racism in private.

That, in and of itself, is not racism; that's more tribalism. We are hardwired to prefer things and people who are similar to us in most cases. This whole "melting pot" phenomenon is a new concept in human history. But for the past 200 years or so, we've always been extremely tribal based largely on culture, ancestry, geography, etc.

Racism isn't preferring your tribe to another. Racism is thinking one tribe is beneath yours based on skin color.

Well said, ibldprplgld.

I’m not going to get judgy of other people’s upbringings.
By and large, most folks do the best they can with what they know.
But in my house, had I ever made a comment like the one that kid made, my parents would’ve made darn sure it didn’t happen again.
I then would’ve been “encouraged” to spend time getting to know people like those whom I’d degraded.

No I wasn't. You may be too emotional to discuss this topic.

Agreed. I wouldn't have been able to sit for a week from the spanking I know I would've gotten. Of course I got weekly spankings for doing stupid shite (I was hard headed) but for that, my parents would have made me learn fast.

The number of people downplaying this is as something that just happens during private conversation is a little eye opening for me honestly.

Whether you do it publicly or privately doesn't make it right, IMO. I'm uncomfortable with it.

I'm also uncomfortable with one poster's allegation that all white people engage in racism in private conversations (or have at one time in their past).

No, having a vengeful inhuman count who thinks the citizens of America are her servants as the other candidate is what gets a Donald Trump elected.

CGSC I was using hyperbole on purpose kinda like the old “Thanks Obama” meme.

I am not being political, more like making fun of a stereotypical point of view that may not actually exist but we can all use as a cultural waypoint.

This board already sucks enough without politics.

The unfortunate accuracy of both statements is the problem. But also a problem for another board.

My thought too, santino is learning the lesson that people living in glass houses shouldn't throw the first stone. Him and his family are not used to people fighting back. This is obvious. I hope the guy and his family get burned for this
