Yeah, we’ve lost a couple that hurt but most of that is processing. We’re still at around 80 scholarships so we may need to actually shed a few more before fall. If you want to bring in 30 you gots to lose 30.

A lot of folks seem to think that if a player transfers out its in the end of the world and if one transfers in they just more or less guaranteed the receiving team a natty. The fact is that outside of your starting QB (in most cases, not all) and the rare skill player losing a high performing 5 star recruit out of high school when he finishes his sophmore year in your program it ain't the end of the world UNLESS you are simply out of any talent in that area or can't find a transfer to step in and take up the slack.
QB is the exception...losing a starting QB for any reason tends to put you in a bad spot. The rest of positions do not...unless you lose a heisman caliber tailback, for instance, chances are you either have one on the roster who can approach his production or, if not, you can add one from the portal. If you have neither you have to find a way to make up the difference. It is not the end of the world. It may get in your fee fees....but they are all gone in 3 years if theyre any good at all and most of them miss some time to injury in those 3 years.

Since Sark left, I think Alabama had lost 11 receivers from the 2020-23 classes to the portal, before Saban retired.
Sark leaving, and taking Flood and Banks with him, resulted a big decline in the Alabama O-line, offense in general, and special teams.
Special teams is overlooked, but it is one place for younger guys to show their skills, and to help the team in other ways. Keilan Robinson transferring to Texas from Alabama was huge. His performance on special teams set the tone from day 1, and was paramount in flipping the culture 180°.
