As Chinese 58 said...

B Mingo. most, if not all mentioned on here so far, are RBs WR, DB/S types. Mingo is a DE. When I heard he was in the upper 40s for a 400 I was impressed. Granted alot of people are in that range, but I don't know of any that chase down QBs

Bennie Brazell (spelling?) is another track star who was solid for LSU.

He amounted to exactly squat on the football field.

Auburn is hoping to get a commitment from Jordan Moore tonight. I don't know what his time was, but he won the 100 meter at the high school national meet last summer and will run track wherever he goes.

The Rowlett Rocket

Too bad he didn't get more snaps with McCoy. How much better could he have been as a sophomore & a junior with a good quarterback?

I remember seeing Willie Gault return a kickoff for a touchdown in Tiger Stadium. My boy, Liffort Hobley, who was a legit 4.4 guy was the "safety" on the LSU kickoff team. Gault ran up threw the wedge and made a cut at about the 30 yd. line towards the West sideline and just blew by Liffort

I saw Liffort dive at air right in front of me on the 40 yd line as Gault flew past him. Rumor has it that Gault said "beep-beep" as he passed the Tiger bench down the sideline.

Check out Gault in this 1986 'Superstars' 100 yard dash - advance to 4:44 of the video.

I can't really remember Bama having anyone like this recently. David Palmer was the last one I can remember that just really had a frickin jet pack strapped under his jersey that I can remember. That little fricker could move, and had the moves to go along with the speed.

David Palmer was not very fast. He was extremely quick & elusive/shifty but not fast in terms of straight-line sprint speed.

Bama's fastest players ever were Pierre Goode, Kevin Lee and Bradley Sylve who is on the team now.

should note, that the 100 yard dash and 100 meter dash are two different things.

The world record 100 meter dash is 9.69 seconds. Jeff Demps ran it in 9.96 which is the fastest time for a football player.

The World Record in the 100 Meter Dash is 9.58 seconds.

The fastest 100 Meter Times ever for an active football player:

1. Trindon Holliday-10.00
2. Jeff Demps- 10.01 (9.96w was Wind-Aided and hence not a LEGAL time and not on the books as a legit personal best)
2. Jacoby Ford- 10.01
4. Bullet Bob Hayes-10.06- 1964 Olympic Gold in the 100 Meter Dash and 4x100 Meter Dash
4. Ron Brown- 10.06 (Gold Medalist in the 4x100 Meter Dash
6. Alvis Whitted- 10.07
7. Darrell Green- 10.08
8. Sam Graddy- 10.09 (1984 Olympic Silver Medalist in the 100 Meter Dash and Gold Medalist in the 4x100 Meter Dash)
9. Willie Gault- 10.10
10. Mike Miller- 10.11
10. Curtis Dickey- 10.11
12. James Trapp- 10.14

Be on the lookout for current Florida High Schooler Marvin Bracy. He has a legal PR of 10.28 but ran a just slightly wind-aided 10.05 last summer.

Bracy just broke the High School National Record in the 55 Meter Dash in 6.08 seconds. This would put him at about the same speeds as Trindon Holliday, Jacoby Ford, and Jeff Demps were in college when they each won NCAA Sprint Championships.

Bracy is committed to Florida St but will be trying out for the US Olympic Team this Summer, 2012. HE FAST!

Bracy -10.05 for 100 Meters

He ran a 9.96 in the 100. Which would mean he's the fastest football player ever.

It was also wind-aided.
