Interesting topic to revisit. I was told repeatedly by fans, often LSU fans way more than Tennessee fans, that Barnett was better than Myles Garrett, and would be better in the NFL than Myles.

the only reason myles garrett was chosen beofre derek barnett is because of his high school recruit ranking. none of those stats count for myles since they didnt happen in SEC play either

The Barnett supporters had valid points as it pertains to college play. Didn't Barnett have more sacks and TFL overall and in conference play?

Barnett also had more tackles, TFL, and sacks period, not just in conference play. Garrett was always clearly the better athlete and prospect. Barnett v Garrett was a reasonable argument as college players.

if wanted to compare the two as college players then yea, thats a reasonable argument. myles graded out as the #1 edge player in all of college football his sophomore year and was on his way to do so again but was hampered with an ankle issue that disrupted his final year but barnett had better stats.
my post was directed to the people who acted like myles was going to be this massive bust and that barnett was the clearly better draft prospect. because they absolutely fricking ridiculous. and there were a lot of those people on here at that time

Seems like Garrett is a number 1 draft pick and Barnett is a decent player
