It's not hard to be loyal to your team when they're winning....

Without doubt, the most loyal fanbase is Vanderbilt. After 40+ years I've never given up, never thrown in the towel. When you look at the sections at our stadium with us older folks, you see the definition of fandom and loyalty.....and now finally, we are beginning to see some glory. Waiting 45 years for a CWS NC and good football..priceless. It's Great to be Gold.

that's great and everything, but vandy still had the 13th ranked percentage of capacity filled in the sec last year in their best run in program history. there are loyal fans everywhere, but no vandy fans are not loyal as a whole.

Yeah, this isn't true. Unlike the Aubies, when we're down we're still around.

Auburn anywhere near the top 10 is laughable

I still remember the '04 Iron Bowl when Alabama lost. Everyone knew who would win, yet BDS was packed out and loud as hell.

So which is it?

Auburn has all these sidewalkers because they're good again

Or

Auburn can't even sell out when they're good

?

Because the two are mutually exclusive, and I think a meeting of the smarter Bama fans (/s) would help decide on one
They actually aren't mutually exclusive. I would think that with the number of times I have seen Auburn fans tell us about how so much of our fan base consists of bandwagon redneck trailer trash that has never stepped foot on campus that they would know people can be bandwagon sidewalk fans and not go to games.

Can anyone explain to me why the PA guy would announce the attendance as a sell out when clearly there are at least 5K seats open in the upper deck of the end zone. I'm not arguing that Bama fans are not top 5 most loyal. However, I have seen several claim sold out season tickets. I cannot defend why we (AU) havent sold our allotment yet. It really is pathetic. However that being said few are as diehard as me. Regardless of the scheduling thats done you can bet your bottom dollar my arse is going to be in Auburn Al every Saturday this fall. All I'm saying is our fans are probably less inclined to put up the money to see only a handful of good home games. We need to have this taken up with our AD bc our athletic dept cannot have good ticket revenue stream every other year.

Leaving early and not being loyal aren't exactly the same thing. I hate that fans leave early because the game is a blowout as don't really want to watch the read option be run 20 times in a row, but they at least show up. As far as I am aware and based on what has been echoed in this thread, we have never had an issue with fans going to games, only keeping them there during blowouts. Not being loyal would be like not showing up at all to a rivalry game when the season is going south.

I don't recall empty seats during Shula.

So what I've "learned" in this thread is that Bama has a huge number of sidewalk fans. Those sidewalk fans didn't show up during the down years. (all of this is bunk but hang with me)
So where do you think all these sidewalk fans went if they weren't cheering for Bama during the down years? That's right, they became Aubies.

Increased tailgating, scheduling, and ticket prices are all factors. SEC schools are great though, you could be like my alma mater...Go Blazers

Texas shouldn't be in the top 100. They are anything but loyal.

You're showing a stadium that was previously sold out for the first half, then left because the game was a snore and Alabama was already ahead by a large margin. Alabama fans showed up for Nick Saban's first A-Day in 2007 with 92,000 strong. There were 56 consecutive sell outs at BDS from '88 to '01.

Jordan Hare wasn't even sold out for a number of games in '12. You sold out 3 times in 2009 and 2011.

What's sad though, is when Alabama got upset by A&M in '12, the same day Auburn lost to Georgia, you guys decided to roll Toomers. Sad

Give it up aTm fans. Y'all make yourselves look like bitter women that don't care about their ex,but yet, can't stop talking about him. You really make yourselves look like little brother even if no one had a clue. You're no longer in their conference, it's in the past.

Move on.
