It's interesting that Georgia only has two of the top 10 recruits in Georgia, and Alabama only has three of the top 10 recruits in Alabama. The top guy from each state going out of state.

That is probably smart.
If you look at past recruiting rankings, this seems to be a good thing. It isn’t 100%, but players who go out of state, 6+ hours from hone, have a higher rate of success than those that stay home. My hypothesis is that guys who go out of state are completely consumed by football and school. They are surrounded by a structured program. They don’t have a ton of bad influences and hangerons surrounding them. A lot of kids that stay at home seem to never completely leave their neighborhoods, and a LOT of those neighborhoods are bad. Those guys are surrounded by bad influences and hangerons. If I guy doesn’t have the self control and will power to leave home behind and commit to being a player and student, they often fail.
The thread about Texas recruits being overrated got me looking at past Texas classes. I think the years I looked at were 2018-2022. What was interesting was that every top 10 recruit that went to Ohio State is in the NFL. Over half the top 10 recruits who went to Texas A&M were complete busts and washed out of football or made multiple moves and never found success (Denver Harris for example). Texas was a little better, but they still had a lot of busts. The guys that went far out of state to Ohio State, Alabama, Oregon, etc. almost all had successful college careers.

Recruiting consistently in the top 8 is a wash. At that point all the players are good and its a matter of keeping them and the system

You better hope Deboer starts winning big. Money doesn't grow on trees in Alabama. Your boosters want a return on their investment and they'll back off if he doesn't start winning big.

This right here. It is about developing and keeping the recruits. And avoiding the ones who have mental/disciplinary issues, regardless of how many stars they have beside their name. Any top ten recruiting class should be competitive, and the final ranking is not the complete picture.
It is better to have a #7 class that fills needs than a #1 class that does not.
Speaking of #7, that 2018 class was Saban’s worst ranked (other than his first partial class) the whole time he was there. But, it was a small class with only 21 players. That class produced 6 NFL draft picks, including two top 10 picks. And the highest ranked recruit, #3 in the country, was a bust. He played well as a true freshman at Alabama and got selected to the 2nd team all freshmen team. He then refused to attend class in to spring. Saban cut him from the team that summer and Alabama dismissed him from the university. He travelled around afterwards and was at Houston one season before he was dismissed from the team for off the field issues. He then went to UT-Martin, then Michigan, then Charlotte. He never spent more than one season at any school because of disciplinary reasons, grades/lack of attendance, and a general shitty attitude. He is currently out of football after being cut from a UFL team after a few months.
He had all the God given talent in the world, but a brain unable to use it.

Wait for 2027 . . .Texas Tech is coming for all your recruits.
LaDamion Guyton

Texas Tech's offseason talent-gathering spree continued on the high school recruiting trail Thursday with a commitment from five-star outside linebacker LaDamion Guyton, ESPN's No. 5 overall prospect in the 2027 class.
Guyton, a 6-foot-3, 220-pound recruit from Savannah, Georgia, is the No. 2 defender in the ESPN Junior 300. He picked the Red Raiders over Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee.

As a Georgia fan, you better hope he doesn’t. We have been seeing cracks in the Georgia machine for a year or two now. If Alabama once again becomes a steam roller it will just make things worse.

Op, if only there was a forum for this.

Georgia doesn't rely on buying players and overspending on players as much as Alabama now. Bama is in the more precarious position.

Well, all of these top defensive recruits for Alabama sure as frick aren't committing so they can be coached by the great Kane Wommack and committed to Bama because of Kane Wommack's track record for putting players in the league. So, with this in mind, what else would they be committing for lol?
You are the one kidding yourself.

Recruiting is too weird right now for me to have any confidence that all these kids end up in these locations. Even if they do, they may only be there one year. I expect several flips to various schools this fall.

You better hope Kirby can start beating Alabama. So far he’s 1-6, including 0-1 vs DeBoer.

It’s ridiculous that we even have a recruiting board.

Do you think that Georgia has been getting their offensive players because they would have the opportunity to play for Todd Monken and Mike Bobo?

It’s ok. You had that big August flea market

True, but have any of your recruits received an official offer of their Revenue Sharing or NIL yet? They could only go out on August 1st and I haven’t seen any reports of any school sending them yet. Flips are a way of life these days.
