By the same measure, no one had a year to tailor their defense around defending Cam and Auburn's new scheme. Yet Saban's worst Bama team(excluding year 1) mostly held him in check aside from 2 long TD passes. If Cam returns for his Sr year, I'd bet Bama totally shuts him down with Saban having an entire offseason to prepare.
That's what's so impressive about that 2003-05 USC team, everyone built their defense to stop them and no one came close to doing it

I think Cam doesn't get enough credit. He was the only high draft pick on that Auburn team beside Nick Fairly. He won a championship at Blinn JC as well.
That Alabama game they were down big and Cam came back to win it.

Cam scored all 28 points that day against the #9 team in the nation/defending national champs while basically single-handedly beating Bama at home in Tuscaloosa…but he was “held in check” and then would had been “totally shut down” had they played again the next year?…wow
I read a lot of dumb things on this website but this one is up there

I'd go Tebow #1 and it's not close, 2 and 3 is Cam and Burrow in either order.

I like the QB that won back to back National Championships

42 pass+rush attempts for 255 total yards is being held in check. And that was 149 excluding the 2 explosives. You seriously underrate the advantage Auburn had implementing a new system noone was familiar with built around a veteran heisman level QB with a skillset the conference had never seen before (Tebow couldn't outrun LB's, Cam could)
Oregon also mostly shut him down given several weeks to prepare, 56 attempts for 329 yards is meh

I didn't know Baker's mom made top 10 lists.

Then you have to hold the strength of schedule against non SEC QBs, or you’re not being genuine, and will argue that it’s all the same competition.

He scored every single point Auburn put on the board against Bama. He was Auburn’s entire offense…literally. And why are we taking “explosive plays” away from him? He still made those plays didn’t he? If you do that, then just go ahead and take every single positive play away from him and then you can really drive your point home
Auburn played Bama the last game of the regular season…Saban had all year to “game plan” around Cam and know what Auburn was running. And as another poster mentioned, what Auburn was running and what their system was that year was basically just give Cam the ball and let him win the game because the rest of the offensive players were average or below average at best and he still managed to drag that Auburn team to beat everyone they played
In the Oregon game, Cam put up 329 yards and 2 TDs with a hurt back or ribs (can’t remember which)…63% of all Auburn’s yardage…against the #2 team in the country
If “shutting him down” are those two examples then we just have different definitions of it, which is fine. But to say that anyone was going to “totally shut down” Cam Newton in any college game is just dumb. He’s arguably the greatest athlete and game changer that has played the position

Well it's based on career, not single season. Burrow kinda sucked in 2018.

Good for Baker and he's coming off his best season ever as a pro. He just keeps getting better.

Why isn’t it “Cam Newton, Florida, Blinn College, Auburn”?

4 CFP MVPs
Two titles.
Tied with Burrow for most TDs by a QB in a championship game.
Must have named the trophy for top 21st century college QB after him since the gap was so wide.

I could live with any of Tebow, Burrow, Cam, or Vince Young at 1. I think there’s a clear cut top 4.
But baker? Nah.
