The Denny Chimes idea was called in by I-Man on Finebaum the day before the 2010 Iron Bowl.

Who knows, maybe that fueled Harvey's fire?

With the current oaks unlikely to survive beyond this fall, the school's Committee to Determine the Future of Rolling Toomer’s Corner presented a two-part plan to Gogue: one, that the trees would be permanently replaced by one or more similar-sized specimens (likely a different species of oak), and two, that a second committee would be assigned to determine a temporary solution for rolling the corner during the three-to-five year period before the new oaks were ready. Gogue signed off on the plan this week.

Why would you plant something that someone can just come and poison again? Let's face it if Updyke never called in to brag about it he would have gotten away with it. Whats to say the countless other crazy fans aren't just gonna try and kill them again?

Good question that I don't have an answer for.

If I had to guess, I'd say they were taken down.

Hmmm...so, traditions are subject to change without great wailing and gnashing of teeth?

The above sentence should not be viewed as support or approval of any actions undertaken by parties in relation to flora. Furthermore, the poster who posed this question is in full support of a reasonable prosecution in the tree matter.

They should just put a dunking booth in it's place. Even I would participate in that.

Wonder if part of Harvey's sentence will be restitution for the cost of this project?

Still think Au will be dropping the ball, if they don't have the 2 trees cut up and made into commemorative plaques, honoring the 2010 season and made available to alumni and fans. They could recoup enough to finance the entire project and fans would get to own a piece of their tradition.

I doubt the will just cut them down and throw them in the wood chipper. Something will happen with them.

I want a finders fee if they make them into plaques.

I vote that they install bronze statues of the original trees that way people can roll something without covering an actual tree with pieces of its dead bros.
