It’s been nice knowing and e-hanging with all of you. See you on the flip side.
I'm sorry to hear this, Sampson, and I hope you find your brother safe and sound. It's concerning he is recovering from a head injury and may not be acting like his usual self nor may he realize that people are actively looking for and care about him. I wish you and your family the best in locating him and I hope it is soon. <3
It really saddens me that we are at this point. The internet really has been a blessing and a curse and I believe technology, social media and the instant exchange of information is a huge part of what has brought us to this current juncture.

This board isn't immune to it. It can quickly become an echo chamber. From the outside looking in, I can see where people can form opinions about this place. I do appreciate we have a variety of contributors on this site, but the reality is that we are all living in our own versions of our curated realities based on where we are getting our information. I cannot fault anyone who gets their information from a source I wouldn't agree with. No matter what your beliefs are - you can find someone online whose views you align with.

I wish we had an honest media. I wish censorship wasn't as rampant as it is. I wish just more people were honest about their own feelings and beliefs and found them for themselves without just feeling and believing it because someone or a news outlet told them they should. I also feel like that's a little bit of human nature and how we have been conditioned to look outside of ourselves for validation.

I was not placed on this planet to hate anyone or judge others based on their beliefs. With all the information and disinformation available at our fingertips, I can see why so many people do not know what to believe at this point. So much reality clashing going on and it's been wild watching it unfold. I am optimistic about the future, but also accept we are living in crazy times.

And not one pic to be found…
Hi Aspy, hope you are hanging in there. Hi bullfrog and skillet. I think I saw DPH earlier. Miss a lot of y’all.

ETA: I did see DPH. Hope you’ve been well.
Hey HC. Thanks for putting a GoFundMe together for PJ. I’ll throw some at the fund later.

Same to you mappy. I’m not active much anymore, but popped on dealing with the collective trauma of Ida. Hope everyone is hanging in there.

What area (if you don't mind sharing that info)?

My folks are in the back of Quail Ridge almost to The Settlement. Their house is on a high spot (14'), but they are reeeeaaaaallllly close to the swamp/river... and so many trees.

This day is going to exhaust me from worrying.
I don’t know Slidell neighborhoods that well. Looking at a map, they are closer to the Slidell Airport more North.

Sending positive energy your way to you and your family. I’m trying to stay calm and realizing there is nothing I can do or change at this point except to keep myself grounded and try to keep my emotions in check. I keep checking the updates and this thread though and it feels so helpless.

Assuming the path holds true. You really only need to get to about Slidell LA to be "safe", just stay on high ground.

Hope you're right... because that's where my folks are ATM.

Same. My fiancé, his family and our pets are in Slidell. I had a trip planned this weekend and I’m out of state for however long I end up being out of state. Heart goes out to all the people in Ida’s path. Going to be a long few days.
I need to go to sleep, but I cannot quit watching these updates. People are going to be shocked when they wake up tomorrow. It’s sad the recon flights had issues today because people really would have benefitted from that information and time.

I pray for the safety of everyone who is in the path of this storm. Thankful for this board and the posters here. You all have helped, are helping and will help a lot of people just by your contributions.
I went on the app and changed my flight for $0, but they didn’t ticket it…so I had to call their customer service and get them to ticket the new flight. I’m good now. My flight was coming in on Sunday so I’m not sure if the same applies for flights going out on Tuesday or not.
Thanks, Cuse. I’m probably going to stay out here. I can remote into work so that’s not a problem. I appreciate all you do!
Thank you!

I’m staying with friends and can stay here longer if need be. I have a class tomorrow that has been booked for a while and I don’t want to miss it. My fiancé is in NOLA and is securing our home and prepping so I’m not worried for that. I’m booked on United because they had the best flight time options home for me on Sunday.

Unless there’s anything on United flying DEN to MSY Saturday after 5….but I also don’t know if I want to put myself in that position either.
I’m scheduled to fly back into NOLA from DEN on Sunday afternoon. Obviously doubt that will happen, but what am I looking at regarding how/when I can get back home? Like when should flights resume service and will I be rebooked or will I need to do this myself?

This is my first time away from home base via flight in a few years and have never had planned air travel during a storm. Any help or advice is appreciated.
madamsquirrel, I know none of these secrets you speak of. You never gave me a reason to want to snoop on you....my intuition game has been very strong though ;)

Hi, Tb08! Hope you are doing well too.

ETA: and then I’m so quickly reminded why I don’t waste more of my precious time here. I do so much enjoy watching the downvotes for OweO rack up. Love him or hate him he’s a part of the collective consciousness of this board.
Chicken zoodle soup.

Hi Owlie, hope you are doing well. Just wanted to pop in and say hi to Aspy and express my appreciation for all things squirrel, including madamsquirrel. Miss y’all, mostly all of y’all!!
