went over LSU's '16 recruiting class. There's about 11-12 players that will figure into the two deep rotation.

Don't know texas '16 recruiting class at all. Did find a two deep though. Three Sr starters on "O" from that class I guess. On "D" same thing three Sr starters and one backup Dline I believe it was.

All in all the '16 signing class has a little bit edge to LSU in '19.

I mean you said 6 starters for Texas were in that class, then said 11-12 from LSU were in the 2 deep. How many additional seniors were in the 2 deep for Texas? I'd assume it's probably pretty equal. It's going to come down to most games when 2 good teams play, execution preparation and sometimes a lucky bounce

It's in my post. ONE backup Dlineman or maybe LB for texas, cest tou, ONE.

Both each have a Sr starter that transferred in Burrow in his second year at LSU and texas has a starting Olineman that transferred in from GT that's in his first year in Austin. Didn't count either one in the original numbers. That number favors LSU too.

LSU - 30
Texas - 19

LSU's defense holds them to a bunch of field goals.

Most of the advanced metrics say Texas is a pretty big pretender this year and due for regression.

Those work for perennial powers but not too well for new coaches installing new systems. They rely on experience and have little to no factor for improved talent in a program nor QB growth. A&M is still being rated off Sumlin's last two seasons, and recruits, in most of those 'advanced' metrics.

Don't know much about LSU's 2016 guys but I'll take your word for it.

As far as the 2016 class, you're right about Texas. Some senior starters, and then maybe 1 or 2 guys in the two deep. Not a lot there, so nod to LSU.

LSU will have a distinct advantage for the Class of '17 guys, and I'd give the nod to Texas for 2018 just based on rank and the fact that a lot of those guys were forced into action as true freshmen last year.

2019 probably pretty similar, but impossible to tell at this point and probably won't come to light all that much going into the second game of each of those guys' college career.

Winner of this game will get a turnover deep in opponent territory with 3 min to go and score a touchdown to ice the game. 27-17 final.

I'd give LSU 60% chance of winning; Texas 40%. But I'll be hitting the burnt orange kool-aid much harder week of the game...

Actually I'm not sure a lot of that does work in 2019. "returning starters" used to be a huge cog in all these predictions, but now talented freshmen play a lot of places, and often perform at a higher level than a returning starter (the QBs for Clemson and Bama come to mind). It matters, but Texas' 2018 class was loaded with talent, so if a 3* senior graduated but a high 4* true sophomore is in that place now, you lose experience but likely gain top end ability

I think this will be the case as the players replacing the departing players were more heralded recruits and have a higher ceiling (plus fit the new coach's system, culture, etc etc...)

Not sure how much of that you can't count on in your favor only 2 games into the season though... Going to be an eye-opening experience for the freshmen on each team, no doubt

Just checked LSU '18 class. Four probable starters all on "O". Two linemen and two WRs. Another three - four in the two deep.

As for the overall makeup of the two teams I would go with the grown arse men in the trenches. LSU's two deep on "O" has one TrSoph and one RFr. The other eight are either Jrs or Srs.

Defensive front seven. Eleven that are in at least their third year. Two TrSophs and one TrFr.

Really don't think UT matches up with that experience along the LOS.
