8/19/26: Athletes get judicial relief
8/25/26: SEC adopts a new rule* designed to circumvent relief
8/28/26: Judge restrains the SEC
9/3/26: During a hearing where the TRO advances to an injunction, the SEC files a federal lawsuit
9/3/26: SEC amends the suit and schedules a vote to expel LSU
Every time one sanctioning mechanism is restrained, the SEC attempts to substitute another.
This is flirting with contempt of court.
*The new bylaw states “a contract with an NFL team” rather than “NFL player contract”. This would put anyone with minicamp players in violation.
**LSU never even rostered the players in question
The SEC legitimately may not be able to legally vote LSU out here, not because they don’t have the authority… but because their reasoning in this case is clear continued defiance of court orders.
If the conference wants to see this through to the end, I don’t think it ends the way you all think it does.
Rulemaking authority does not empower you to make illegal rules or clear retaliation, nor does it protect you from lawsuits of selective enforcement.
I’m sure LSU doesn’t want to go this route, but I can promise the guns are now loaded.

And LSU just needs to point out the selective enforcement of the SEC when it comes to bylaws and TRO's
Alabama signed Bediako despite him having been ruled ineligible. His case is more egregious because he declared early for the NBA draft knowing he was foregoing 2 remaining years of eligibility. Signed with multiple NBA teams and played 2 full G-League seasons. Then decided to come back to college and got a TRO that let him play and Bama put him on the court for 5 games. Not a fricking peep from the SEC league office about ignoring the TRO and threatening Bama with sanctions or expulsion if they rostered and played Bediako. His situation wasn't the result of NCAA rule changes creating gray areas that suddenly granted him eligibility that he previously didn't have.

Court is above both the SEC and NCAA. Chambliss wouldn't be playing otherwise. A huge number of players wouldnt be playing actually.

This is not contempt of court.
But, as several legal experts have pointed out, there does appear to be an element of forum shopping in the SEC's complaint. It's one of the areas they lawyers have said the complaint falls short. It could lead to a summary judgement.

Filing a weak lawsuit was not contempt & was only forum shopping, but an actual vote to expel LSU would absolutely be able to make a case for contempt.

The SEC isn't preventing you from doing anything. You are still 100% free to sign and play those players.
And the SEC is free to show you the door.

Your entire train of thought hinges around the SEC putting a line in the sand and saying hey dont cross this when thats not what is happening. LSU is sitting in front of the line, not crossing it, and the SEC just threw a right hook. LSU did nothing, the SEC just threw the punch.

And because they aren't rostered, I don't think LSU will be kicked out.
LSU is still posturing and as long as you do, things will continue in this direction.
The ability to kick LSU out of the conference is in the bylaws, it requires 2/3rds vote.
