If the rule was in place already, why was there no similar threat proffered when Alabama rostered and played Charles Bediako? Since the SEC rule announced 8/25/26 included G-League players, didn't Oats and Alabama violation dictate a half-season suspension and fine of half of Bama basketball? A fine/suspension that never was discussed when Bediako eventually lost his case against the NCAA?
I get that the SEC leadership was against his playing. The rest of the conference was against him playing. Bama played him anyway. Are you trying to argue that Oats wasn't in contact with him?

It doesn't restrict NIL, it restricts boosters.
Huge difference.
And it's exactly the same type of thing the SEC is establishing right now with its lawsuit.
