This is dumb.

Let's just ignore 25% of the entire season and pretend it doesn't matter.

No, it makes the regular season matter. The Pac 12 was pretty much shut out of the Playoffs when Washington lost to Auburn in week one. That is why you only have Champions. Every other sport takes teams that earn it on the field. Now you have teams earning spots in July (eye test).

So you want to put worse teams into the playoffs and just make 33% of the season exhibition games?

Got any more brilliant ideas?

No dumbass, those 12 games have meaning. Teams compete to win their division and then their Conference Championships. Now teams are selected in July and stay there until they lose, even then because of the eye test bullshite they can lose and still make it. The regular season is are exhibition games now.

Look how far he's fallen. From studio anchor at CBS to calling Texas Tech and Oregon State. Ranting and raving on the local Baton Rouge radio station WXYZWEFCJ-FM "Thaaa Biiieeeyooo's Sports Taaawwwwk"

The dude clearly worships at Paul Finebaum's feet. Because he tries to be provocative like him to stay relevant but has reached James Carville levels of nutjob.

But he doesn't realize Finebaum's already reached a level that he doesn't have to be provocative to be relevant, he just does it now to toy with people.

And Tim waits on his yearly Finebaum invite to be relevant for a day again.
Tim yearns to be the SEC guy, his crazy statements are out of his insane jealousy that he isn't. Because he's stuck in Lubbock and Corvallis.

He's the crazy old guy in WalMart with sandals and one sock on arguing with the cashier about them being out of the Great Value ham.

The growing lack of parity in college football is definitely a problem. UA, UGA, OU, OSU, and Clemson are so far and away superior to everybody else

Over the past 25 years or so:
Alabama prior to 2008 was at best a Division threat to win.
UGA has one conference title in 15 years.
OU hasn't won a playoff game yet.
OSU has a new coach
Clemson prior to '14 wasn't anything but a mere bump in the road for FSU.

Who will be the "lack of parity" teams five years from now? We can only wait. I'd wouldn't get worked up claiming this "growing lack of parity" mantra.

No, only 8 of those games would have meaning with Conference Championships. Any smart team would literally treat the OOC games as practice games and you would basically turn them into the equivalent of the NFL preseason.

Most likely right down to the 1st string playing very little time.

Conference Championships are made for the sole purpose of..the conference, nothing beyond that. They do not take the entire season into account, the playoff committee does.

And why the hell should anyone give a shite about them beyond that? It's like the Pac12 since you mention them. Why the hell does beating those few regional teams somehow grant you access to the playoffs? They almost all suck. Half a dozen teams from the SEC could have won that Conference last year. It's just a group of teams.

You say "Well Auburn beat Washington, so that pretty much ruled the Pac12 out". GOOD. That means the system is working because none of those fricking teams deserved to be there.

This is just a bunch of bullshite. What's bullshite are the LARGE amounts of ignorant people who think opinions are always equal and incapable of being right. I don't know when in our society this became the way of thinking, but it's pretty dumb.

A mechanic may say - I wouldn't recommend buying a newer dodge these days, I see them in my shop for repairs constantly even with low mileage compared to other cars. That's an opinion.

Is it the same as some random instagram "golfer" tryign to give you car advice? No, you probably wouldn't listen to her right? Both have opinions, but one of them knows what they are talking about.

What you really mean to say is you are pissed off because people who's opinions matter are different than yours. And because you lack the intellectual ability to debunk such opinions and will just get laughed at(go ahead and cry about Alabama in 2017, we all know that's what this is about), you just call the entire process "bullshite".

What he really means is "I want a format where LSU is relevant because I'm a homer who doesn't have balls to admit it".
This shows complete ignorance of Brando’s history of ribbing LSU to distance himself from a perceived local bias as a national reporter but congrats on the upvotes.

Nobody plays an OOC schedule that is worth a damn regardless if format. And are practice games. Unless you are saying Duke is a Championship contender.

2017 Bama was anointed Playoff worthy, their best regular season win was MSU and get their arse whipped by Auburn. But because of July, they got in and won a NC.

This buffoon should be mad at the other 128 schools who can't beat Clemson and Alabama.

Bama and Clemson are doing what they are supposed to, winning football games. It's everybody else that's not stepping up.

All you turd Aubies had to do was beat UGA in the SECCG, and you were in. Instead you laid a big fat egg because a severely depleated Alabama defense beat the ever living shite out of your best player in a loss. The CFP Committee and everyone else in America besides Aubie could see this.

BAMA lost the battle, but won the war. Same as it ever was.

Brando is a victim of Bama football hatred. And is collateral damage and suffers from PTSD. Surprised he is still alive.

You are right. At this point in time only three schools have the steam to win the National title. UGA and Alabama and Clemson. Alabama and Georgia are the two most talented rosters and Clemson is close behind with a 2 game schedule to win it all. Both in the playoffs. They are a big time SEC school in a minor league. But the reality is this: Georgia has a real chance of being beaten by AU or in the SEC championship game and then two playoff teams. That's 4 games to win. Add LSU to Alabama's AU and SEC championship and two playoffs and that's 5. Clemson has no real chance of losing before the playoffs so that's a 2 game trip.

I would say at this point Clemson, UA or UGA will be the top seed. Very likely CU. UA or UGA number two and two random teams from a group of OSU, OU, UW/Oregon in the 3 and 4 holes. Which means a Georgia/Alabama vs Clemson final.

Stuff happens in an CFB schedule. Right now the best team in America is a very familiar name. Alabama. Just schedule a rematch with a clean break to open the season Alabama vs Clemson. The Tide would spank that arse. Then let the rest of CFB play for second best. Which by the end of the season will be UGA instead of CU.

Tim Brando is all about the "fly in the ointment" and desires parity in the sport of college football. The problem is...parity can't exist in the sport the way it is currently set up. The major conferences will always have more money and leverage than the smaller ones. That's just a fact. More people want to watch Michigan vs. Penn State than UAB vs. Southern Miss. As a result...conferences like the Big Ten will get the better TV deals.

Recruiting is a little bit easier for smaller schools these days now that everyone is on TV and there are limited scholarships, but elite schools with elite recruiters will always bring in the majority of the blue chip talent every year. As a result, when you do make the playoffs an 8-16 team event, these schools with top flight talent will almost always destroy the schools with less-talented rosters.

The results in these games would be similar to that of the 2013 BCS National Championship where Alabama, a far more athletic and talented team, ran all over Notre Dame. Upsets can and do happen but the talent disparity in college football compared to the NFL make upsets less likely.
