Uconn does not have close to the name brand in Basketball..I am very sure Duke and UNC basketball games draw national attention so I guess I do not understand so please explain(not being sarcastic at all).

It is unlikely that the University of Connecticut (UConn) is close to receiving an invitation for membership into the Association of American Universities (AAU). While a strong public university, UConn does not currently meet the research metrics and overall institutional profile that typically lead to an AAU invitation, and it has been passed over for membership in the past.
AAU membership requirements
Invitations to join the AAU are extended to universities that are considered among the nation's leading research institutions.
Membership is based on a rigorous evaluation of various metrics, including:
Research spending: Specifically, competitively funded federal research support.
Faculty distinction: This is measured by faculty awards and membership in prestigious bodies like the National Academies.
Breadth of programs: Institutions are expected to offer a comprehensive range of high-quality graduate and research programs.
Reasons for UConn's long shot status
Not a current member: UConn is not one of the 71 U.S. and Canadian universities currently listed as an AAU member.
Historically passed over: In 2012, the Big Ten conference chose Rutgers for its AAU status, passing over UConn. This was largely due to UConn's less competitive research profile at the time.
Competitive pool of candidates: Many universities are competing for the limited number of AAU invitations. Six universities were invited in 2023, and they were all top-tier research institutions like the University of Notre Dame and the University of Miami. UConn's research profile would need to significantly improve to be considered alongside schools of that caliber.

Yeah, right.
Notre Dame would NEVER, EVER hook up with the SEC.
NEVER, NEVER, EVER, EVER.
But do keep on with your cluelessness.

AZ State is the only remaining team out west worth looking at as far as viewership and alumni size.
The rest is a waste.

Your wrong. If the money is right, they would. And they are not huge fans of the Big Ten.

Big will pull one of either Clem or fsu maybe both if I had to guess, the big is in desperate need of marquee names. Nd Clem fsu and kinda Miami are the only schools on the table that can deliver that.
Sec Tex ou lsu bama barn Tenn uga Florida
Big. Osu Penn st usc Oregon Michigan
If I were the big, the next time I went to sell content I’d much rather have Miami fsu nd and Clem on that list.

Notre Dame has played 17 teams at least 20 games
8 are already in the B1G
Others on the list..
AAU
UNC
Miami
GT
Stanford
Academy’s
Army
Air Force
Navy
Others
Pittsburgh
Boston College
They are definitely going B1G..

You’re too hung up on this AAU thing. It’s not 2012 anymore. The Big said they would take Notre Dame before they became AAU and other schools that are not AAU. It’s not an absolute deal breaker.
Yes, if the money makes sense in the SEC Notre dame would consider and potentially join. Notre Dame is not a huge fan of the BIG. Never have been.

No matter UNC goes, if they go, they will play Duke every year in basketball. That will not change and from here locally that has been told with all inquiries.
I always figured basketball would make these 2 a package deal

The money from the CIC makes the media deal look like peanuts.. the research $$$ and shared benefits are very important to those schools?
That doesn’t answer your question?

They said no to a Texas - Oklahoma package deal because OU isn’t AAU.. it’s still really important to them, but I guess we’ll find out.

No, it doesn't.
Does the conference share the research money? I'm pretty sure that goes to the individual school regardless of what sports conference the sports teams play in.

Those in the know think it's UNC, UVA, FSU, Clemson to the SEC in the upcoming years. Duke is throwing money around to ensure they're not left behind from the P2 also. All the Confederate States will be back in the fold.

There’s plenty of good games to put out there if they choose too.. once the guaranteed 4 teams in the playoffs is put in place, they’ll start playing them imo..

I just don’t see them adding Clemson. FSU? Maybe. I believe they are close to AAU.
