How are 1 and 2 decided when teams have same W-L? Ranking? SOS? With divisions you always had head to head now thats not the case. Curious what the new rules are.

You forgot secret rule A1A: If the name of the university is Alabama, then forego any further processing of rules.

They posted tie-breakers last Wed..

However, this only says SECCG teams...what about any other ties?

What other ties would there be that would need sorting?

I really like how the SEC has it’s own criteria that doesn’t involve the crooked rankings

You're telling me a non-division 16 team conference WON'T have tied teams NOT in the SECCG?

So, if 2 schools finish 6-6 & NOT play each other, they SHARE that spot? What about 3 that are tied? How will overall rankings be sorted?

Why in the world would it matter where two 6-6 (4-4) teams are ranked in the SEC?

You realize the tiebreaker has always only been for the championship game right?

That’s how Ole Miss got their co-SEC West Champs banner

Who cares where teams rank within the conference outside of the SECCG?

Basically, yes. The SEC (and every other conference) doesn't care who finishes 3rd, 4th, and so on. This was also true in the division era. Conferences didn't care who was outside of 1st in the East/West, North/South, Leaders/Legends, or Coastal/Atlantic. You'll find difference sources listing teams in random order.

Because everybody wants to know how they stood during the season. For ex., I'm pretty sure they'ld rather be 15th instead of 16th.

Because we had divisions where you & 5 or 6 other teams played each other automatically sorting everybody.

No divisions & various # of common opponents removed that help.

If they DIDN'T go to the SECCG, then they weren't the West winners, were they?

Reminds me of the Wikipedia page that has UGA & Florida sharing 1st (despite the Dawgs winning H2H).

15th place would like to know they weren't 16th.
