Some information is to be released in a few days regarding this subject, per news reports.

I thought it was a "block the SEC" move more than anything else. Not sure what they could do in regards to that.

I don't see any revenue sharing to come out of any of these meetings.

Probably going to try to say they have more big time matchups so they deserve more money.

You can feel their envy. Powerful feeling.

They essentially want to keep it a 4 team playoff, make a conference championship requirement to enter playoff, etc. What they will do is speed up the college football primer league, which most of them will be left out from.

I’m glad we’re in the SEC and not in some bitch arse conference that needs “alliances” to stay relevant

Sounds more like they want the 12 team playoff but capped at 3 teams per conference.

This. Concerns me they’ll all vote the same to the detriment of the SEC.

It's going to be a voting alliance, vailed as a scheduling alliance. I think they are going to oppose playoff expansion, and vote together to make the playoff be between the winners of the P4 conferences.

I for one am all for it. No more backdoors for you know who.

ETA: they will likely also divvy up the scraps of the Big 12. This will essentially force Notre Dame to join a conference or get left out.

The only thing that is concerning is the rumor that they want to collectively keep the playoff at 4 AND require a conference championship to get a bid.

A regionalized sport of college football is not good. The sport needs to be national and for every corner of the country to care.

As it stands now, this alliance involves 40 teams. I don't see how this is overly profitable with all of that dead weight, and even if they pare it down to 16-22 teams the 16-team SEC is still more desirable from top to bottom.

Nothing to do with monetary value, my best guess it'll be a way to keep some leverage when playoff voting comes around, probably try to limit how many teams per conference get in. Or something to that effect

No way this alliance will last. These people are too different. They won't be able to get along.

I am not sure what they can accomplish. Its not like they're going to do a new tv deal. They're not going to stop playing the SEC. What is their goal of the alliance except try to counter the SEC?

It's their spiteful little response to try to maintain relevance. It's the SEC vs. the rest now. The SEC's product is vastly superior top to bottom than anything those three conferences can scrap together.

I think the fact that the little "Alliance" is happening substantiates the rumors about FSU and Clemson wanting to join the SEC.

No chance. The B1G would dilute itself by revenue sharing with the PAC-12 or ACC. That would do nothing but further weaken its position relative to the SEC.
