This year's Arkansas/Aggy game might be at Kyle Field instead of Jerry's World

From A&M:
Texas A&M is still contracted to play Arkansas at Arlington's AT&T Stadium. If, for example, the SEC moved to a conference-only model, that might leave the Aggies with just three home games. Could that venue change?

"We would need that game on campus. You guys know my philosophy on that game long-term. To me, that game should be on campus anyway. But if something were to happen this year, we'd do everything we can to move that game to our campus. This year it's our home game.

"That dialogue has already started with (Arkansas AD) Hunter (Yurachek). But because things are so fluid, you don't have to make any decisions right now. You put things on the table, you talk about what-if scenarios. The rabbit holes you can go down are pretty fascinating. You just have to think of everything and that's what we've been trying to do."

If this eliminates the neutral site game at Jerry's World, I'm all for it. I'm tired of giving up a home game every year.

Jerry World was fun for the boos, but it was getting old.

Plus I have a feeling most stadiums are going to allow alcohol sales considering the budgetary holes left from this year. Similar to the swath of states legalizing or taking steps to legalize sports betting.

If COVID gives us alcohol sales in stadiums and permanently removes America's communist open container laws, I'll consider it a wash.

Really hope that happens. I didn’t get the chance to make the Fayetteville trip back when we joined the conference and would love to do it next year

Hunter Yurachek(Ark AD) response:

""It's A&M's home game this year so he has a desire to move that game to college station. We have a relationship with the Jones family here, they own that venue, so his feelings on that may be different than mine"
"It would only be fair to have them do the return game here next season then continue the end of the contract the next two seasons in dallas""

This seems like the smartest idea.

Well, yeah. That's the point. This year it's a "home" game for A&M and next year it's a "home" game for Arkansas.

That’s exactly what he said. What’s your point?

Yep, would love to see this game back on both campuses. It was great when we weren't in the same conference and division, but now that we are, I'd rather have the home conference game every other year. Just makes sense for both teams long term.

Most fans are over the trip to Jerry World and want a home and home.

It felt bad when it was OOC - kind of a Texas/OU Me Too game.

As an in-conference game, it’s ridiculous. It would be a great home and home - especially being one of the closest schools to A&M. I think the fan bases would travel well.

Agreed. Dallas had its time. Let’s go home and home and if we want to keep a game in Dallas then try to schedule someone like Okie State, Texas Tech, TCU or Baylor instead.

Especially when you consider both fan bases have a large portion of their fan base in the Dallas area. That isn't very far in either direction.

Are those two years (2022&20223) already schedule for Dallas or are will they makeup dates?

The current contract is a 10-year deal that started in the 2014 season. 2023 is the final year of the contract.

Other factors behind the scenes might also be in play. ADs in the SEC are are going over all possible scenarios.

Moving Arkansas to Kyle Field adds a home game to their schedule. That’s important because they already lost the Colorado game. Moving the Arky game to Kyle allows them some flexibility to replace CU.

One scenario is Texas Tech. Like A&M, they lost a home game (Arizona) on Sept 19 when the Pac12 went to a conference only schedule.

TxTech and Aggie both need to replace a Sept 19 home game. Maybe a compromise is playing at Jerry World.

Of course a conference only schedule or cancelled season renders all of this moot, but ADs have to plan for multiple scenarios at this point.
