That should be a roughing the passer penalty. Refs scared to call anything because you shouldn't get thrown out of a game for that. It was the right call though, just took too long.

If we are being honest I agree, but by the rule it is targeting. Targeting is obviously tough for DL on QB's because you cant hit low or high, but even facemask to facemask contact was high. In this case, with the concussion it shows why.
But a QB throwing is defenseless so it's just contact to head/neck that matters. Really the next run play was a more obviously version of targeting, but it wasnt called.

if a dl tipped the ball, and his hand continues its motion and touches QB's helmet, is it a targeting?

Lonnie let it go, the trolls are in here and they are all salty about their own teams’ failures.
As a Gamecock fan nothing another fanbase says to us can insult us nearly as much as our program has over the years.

Was Shane complaining about the play been stopped when the play looks like a sure big play for Carolina?

Yes. He said that they have the entire time Sellers was being attended to to look at the call but waited until 2 seconds after we snapped the ball to blow the play dead.

Not really upset. Just identifying the one or two play(s) depending on how you look at it that most impacted the outcome of the game.

You didn't watch to the end did you? Nobody was catching Harbor on the play they blew dead
Probably because the ref blew the whistle snd everyone stopped except him.

I take it almost nobody in this thread actually watched the video.
That's one of the most horrific things I've ever seen from officiating in my entire life. Unbelievable.
We need to demand accountability. The Big 12 suspended one of their crews. We need to do the same.
It's getting so bad lately, you can almost expect a TD will be wiped out in every game due to a terrible call.

Vandy might be about to become a problem for the SEC LOL. They have plenty of money.....they are in a football crazy town. And they out physicalled USC in Columbia at night, something that ain't easy to do. If the coach stays, and he is an alumni who seems to LOVE Vandy, they could become problematic. They have upset folks before, but even last year against Alabama they did not out physical Alabama...they are playing like a SEC team right now....they used to catch someone sleep walking and nuanced the win...they simply ran over USC and USC ain't a bad football team....

He raised his hands and lowered his helmet into the qb. Not a targeting fan but he definitely lowered his helmet to hit him.

That's not what they are talking about with lowered helmet. They are talking about one of two things, one a speering situation and the other is to lower your head to target them with your crown. That was facemask to facemask.

Sorry should have clarified, was just saying he didn't let up. He lowered his helmet to initiate contact not to avoid it.

which is still forceable contact to the head and neck area of a defenseless player, which a throwing QB is considered

They blew the whistle as the ball was in the air, that was the issue. It wasnt it like it was blown at the snap or right after. It's when the ball was in the air. No excuse for that.

If SC couldn't overcome this, then they're a weak team. Kind of an embarrassing topic for SC fans really

Is this a phase we're supposed to be concerned? I mean the juice is more than pimping the thing here.
Posted on 9/15/25 at 5:49 pm to GamecockUltimate
Nah, it's not, he let up which isnt forceable. Otherwise if you are going to get called you should frigging murder the QB and drive their shoulder into the ground.
There has to be a reward for letting up
