I just guess I’m too old school. I was raised that if you commit to something you finish said commitment. Can you imagine going to a coach like Bear or Pat Dye and say, I’m opting out”? They would (Bear would take a sip of sour mash and Pat would spit out his chaw) and tell him to call your momma and tell her you’ll be home in time to help her with the dishes.

First, in your Bear and Dye scenario the players have already spoken with “I’m out”.
Coaches leave for better gigs without regard to the players they recruited.
People quit their jobs all the time. Employees get laid off. Companies have dropped pension plans. People get divorced. Do college programs give severely injured players lifetime healthcare support?
CFB is a business. Players, teams, coaches make business decisions.

The players now feel as though they are in control. A culture must be created that emphasizes things such as caring for your team mates, loyalty to your school, etc. The NFL has to step in and help put an end to this by not drafting opt outs (quitters) , or start drafting kids out of high school. When a player quits, his scholarship should be revoked and he should be dropped from school; nothing personal, just business. If this trend continues, fans and universities need to start opting out as well. Let's end college football for a season or two (I know it would be painful to me) and see if that changes the thinking of these pampered egocentric players.

I’m not pro-opt out, but those players don’t owe the fans a thing. It sucks and I hate it, but they are not responsible for my entertainment or lack thereof. That’s on the coach.

No one opted out at Bama. Why? What makes them different?

Upperclassmen: buy-in and opportunity for another NC

Underclassmen: scholarships are awarded on a one year basis

Try again. Neither of those explain why first round picks Ruggs, Jeudy, and Wills played in the Citrus Bowl last year.

I'll tell you why Bama is different. Leadership at the top.

You're just wrong.
I'm so wrong you couldn't even bother to figure out how. Interesting. I see you share the same lazy trait as the players you're defending.

Yeah, and we should make it LESS like a business, rather than continuing the slide towards Minor League NFL.

The Playoffs were a mistake. Paying players would be a mistake. We should be redirecting the millions of dollars of unethical profits reaped by coaches & athletic departments instead.
