Florida was ranked #2 when they came to Baton Rouge and beat us 44-15.
Perhaps y'all are referring to this game in 1997?

Good read, yes he missed a few facts and "dominant team"..I don't think so. I admire the grinders. They pull hard for their team and realize they don't have the resources to compete near the top for extended periods. Other than OM they don't troll much(this week being an exception

When was this magical 4 year period because I'm looking at the standings since 1992 and I see a whole lot of Alabama, Auburn, and LSU. I also see the occasional appearance of Arkansas.
The only time I see Mississippi State is 1998, a year in which they went to Atlanta but had neither the highest national ranking nor best overall record in the west.

So we got the title to the MSU football team in 2000? Feels good to officially own the mule you were renting....makes the beatings a little less fulfilling, but fun when you can't find anything that will fight back

Great read and thanks for that perspective. I think the game will be fantastic and will come down to how LSU's young talent measures up to MSU's experience and maturity. It should be a great atmosphere. Best of luck to State.
