No one really expected anything out of MSU until they beat LSU and then everyone lost their minds with expectations.

Had you said MSU would be 1-2 with a loss to LSU and a split with AR and UK before the season no one would be surprised or really disappointed. But when they dominated LSU, that changed.

I know nothing, but changing the culture of a locker room is not a 3 game process. Will probably get worse before better. Hopefully he can get buy in from key guys on the team.

Very accurate post. This is not a very good State team but nobody expected anything from them until they beat LSU, then all of the sudden it was Costello for Heisman and Top 15 in the polls. We can clearly see now that it was an overreaction. As a State fan I was very excited about the LSU win, but the last two weeks have shown that there is still a long way to go.

This roster is not ready to run this offense at a high level consistently. They are struggling with pass protection and turning it over a zillion times a game. Scheme means nothing when you do that. You may see them light up somebody else this season and have another upset win, and you may also see more of what you saw against Arkansas and Kentucky.

It was always going to be more about the long term with Leach and less about this season. Had Moorhead returned everyone would've expected this team to suck, and even with Leach most only expected something like the Liberty or Birmingham Bowl.

Totally possible this ends up not working out, but I don't think you'll be able to know for sure until about 2022. This State team may end up being a bad one, doesn't necessarily mean that this season is indicative of what the the future will be. It took him a couple of years at both Texas Tech and Washington State to get things going. His first team at WSU actually had a worse record than his predecessor had the year before.

Agree. At the time it seemed like beating LSU was a big deal. But if MSU and LSU were to play next week, instead of week one it would probably be considered a push. We all knew LSU would take a step back this year, but I don't think anyone expected them to be as bad as they've been. Turns out it just wasn't the impressive win it looked like at the time.

Winning at Washington State is like winning at Illinois.

Stop making excuses. Neither Arkansas or Kentucky are great and LSU is th second worst team in the league. Offense is Mike Leach's baby but he is the infant in a conference full of grown men.

It's been a quarterback issue. Until that is solved the mess will continue.

Having a NFL RB on the roster and flat out refusing to run the ball against a 3 man front tells me all I need to know about the dude

Will Texas A&M beat LSU this year?

Mike Leach is an embarrassing human being. He's not qualified to be a dogcatcher. He's crazy - clinically crazy, which disqualifies him from just about any job. All he does is throw the football 70 times a game and gamble on 4th down ten times more than he should. He has rare and amazing successes but most often he shits the bed and the stink doesn't bother him because he's a pig. I wouldn't have confidence in Mike Leach to do anything - literally ANYTHING. The SEC will eat his lunch and his SEC career will be short and filled with his psychotic excuses for a year or three. He will fail spectacularly in the SEC.

Likely, yes. But LSU still has talent on the roster and there are a lot of unknowns with every game this year up until the pregame Covid test results come in, so we will see what happens when the day comes.

Wait tell he actually has a qb that can throw against the zone.

They said the same thing about Clemson and Auburn. In the playoff system, a great coach and great players can win a title.

I know you love Miss St but you can't really believe Mike Leach will ever change. He doesn't care about defense and his offensive philosophy N E V E R changes against any opponent. All he does is throw the ball 70 times a game - to hell with anything and everything else. Do you really think he'll one day *miraculously* consider his opponent and actually develop a strategic gameplan that doesn't include throwing the ball 70 times???????????

It's such a dumb strategy. All you have to do is play dime or quarter defense every single snap and watch the interceptions come in like Kentucky did.

He ran for 300+ yards against my Ducks in one game.

Yes, he can adapt his game plan.

He has a new oline. He has WRs that don’t know how to beat the zone. He has a qb that is terrible on the short and intermediate throws.

He will give the SEC hell in 3 years.

Oregon had 4 DBs opt out for the NFL. The middle linebacker was a coverage linebacker drafted in the 5th round.

Arcanado killed our zone. Just wait till he has his WR that can beat the zone.

LOL really? Washington had no problem beating Leach and WSU. SEC are figuring it out and it will take special and really good 4 and 5 stars players to get into his system. Not any top players. Missouri beat LSU! Missouri have mostly 3 stars players and very few 4 stars players. It is about the kind of system that will work against SEC top defense.

Oregon has many 4 star players. Washington had their number because the apple cup is usually played in snow and sleet.

Have you seen any of the MSU games? It became predictable. That is when you throw the ball 70 times and run only 8-10 times.
