He is the next great SEC coach. Lane fricked us on that hire.

He’s gonna be a great coach

I do think Pete will be as well though. He’s a systems guy. I do think he may be stretched too thin for both HC and DC duties though. This needs to be seriously evaluated

ETA: we lost to a good Florida team in their place. This is Pete’s first big test he’s had as a HC. He’s never had to rebound after a loss, which is objectively kinda crazy… this will tell us more as to his ability as a HC than anything. We need some answers, but overreacting isn’t the right move

Yeah I’m not giving up on Pete by any means. That Florida squad has one hell of a power run game and they’re by far the most well coached team we’ve played so far.

I am high on Sumrall and would have much preferred him to Pete. But it’s only been a few games, and he won’t hold onto that OC for long

this is my biggest concern. I think Pete will do just fine, to be honest I think all he really needs is to just recruit and manage. We have a great system in place in this current landscape for just most coaches to be able to succeed.
I do wish we had Sumrall though, I think he’d be fantastic and would’ve been here for a long time. But I think Pete will end up being successful as a head coach and I don’t think we’ll regret having him. I just hope he gives up DC duties because doing both isn’t going to work.

If that game had been in oxford and had we been at full strength it most likely would have been a different outcome. It’s one game. Defense was shite. Regroup, fix it and move on.

“If everything was different, it’d have been better”. I’m being a bit of a dick, but I think Pete absolutely needs to give up playcalling and needs to delegate.

I'm not knocking Pete as HC. This is more about how good I thought Sumrall is as a HC. He does need to hire a DC though.

That loss could end up looking like ‘24 Kentucky.

It won't be that bad. Florida is an 8-4 team this year but losing by 24 is what stings the most.

I think they’re gonna have a hard time getting to 8 wins. But yeah, what made it so bad is they just pounded it right down our throat like we were a high school team, and everyone since has shut them down.
