You are literally the only power 5 program in your state. You should be dominating the recruiting there even in down times. Aggy just yoinked your state's best player for 2021. Imagine Jimbo nutting all over your forehead. LOL

From what I understand the AD search takes longer than a coaching search. So if they wanted to fire long then it should have been before the season started. Fans said that he was fired because he wasn't going to fire Bert but I believe it is more in-depth than that. Rumors have spread that it had something to do with the finances.

JCP was just a puppet and Bert wasn't fired on the field but was led to a small room in the stadium. Then he was given the pink slip.

Gus recommended Chad Morris as well. But if we were going the G5 route then I would have picked Sonny Dykes.

That search wasn't as bleak as our last one. We still had better candidates than Chad but the hire was like they just didn't put in the effort or care.

You guys need to bring in a slimy af young recruiter. Honestly, Kiffin would have been a good hire. The talent at ARK is so bad right now that you can't really coach up any wins in the SEC West.

Step 1 should be to bring in a slimy guy that will get questionable players in and start winning 8-9 games regularly. Then when the cupboard is stocked you go after an X's and O's guy to get to 10-11 wins. The Pittman hire just seems strange to me. Need talent at Arkansas.

How many of the blue chippers that Morris brought in are going to stay around?

Nah, Arkansas has some of the worst if not the worst football talent in the south

I've said this many times, but I'm still amazed at what Jeff Long did to that program.

I wouldn't say slimy but the other part fits. He wasn't respected by the players but I don't think it was because he was slimy.

We already had our fair share of slimy coaches like Houston Nutt and Bobby Petrino. That turned out really well didn't it? Kiffin wouldn't do anything here. I don't want someone who took the number one USC team and went unranked for the first time since 1964. Hell no and his personality wouldn't fit in here. He is a better fit at Ole Miss. Arkansas needed an older coach that has yet to have his resume tainted by stupid off the field antics and just plain underachievement. Sam Pittman came into the picture because Arkansas desperately needed a culture change. He understands how to do that.

That coaching search was a learning process Arkansas was trying to understand more a bout the current situation. Looking for someone that wanted to be here and try to change the culture. Not someone who didn't care or want to change the toxic environment here. Thus gets fired with a huge buyout.

He wasn't respected by the players because in a smartass way told them he wouldn't be here if they were any good.

He lost them from day one. Go watch the North Texas game as an example of fighting within the team.

There are many examples of a coach fricking up with their personal lives and programs keeping them around. Hell, everyone knew of the Wimp Sanderson affair and Bama didn’t fire him until he hit his GF and she sued. Same with Mike Dubose and Terry Bowden. They were only fired when they started losing. Petrino wasn’t there yet.

Well since joining the SEC you've had a dozen HCs, and those are the only two that left with winning records.

He didn't get fired because he messed up his personal life. He got fired because he mixed that in with the program as well. Also the AD didn't like him lying to him multiple times but that was minor compared to the other issues.

I would think most of your fanbase would kill a relative to have either Nutt or Petrino coaching again.
