May be the most successful coach in SEC history to be fired.

His entire tenure has been so odd. Fitting of his personality I guess.

this is from link above

TAF has been split for some time in its support for Miles, with many senior members disagreeing with the most recent extension given to him. The group does not appear to be split anymore, with the vast majority of its members believing that it is time for a new coach in Baton Rouge.

According to a source, Miles met with officials last week discussing his future, and the discussion was centered on how and when the two parties would be parting ways. During the conversation, the realization that Miles' days are numbered set in with LSU's head football coach, who discussed a retirement from LSU following the 2016 season. While that is a step in the right direction for some fed up TAF members, it was not a resolution that sits well with many others, who would like to see a change made following this season.

How much will ticket prices have to go up to pay out $17 million in buyouts?

he has lost the trust of TAF and is the main reason he will be gone.

if TAF wants him gone, he's gone.

So they are saying that he may stay next year and then retire? That would be an awful decision by the administration. The recruiting would go to shite and it would set the program back even further. If he is leaving they need to pull the trigger.

If they have the next coach in pocket, it will happen by season's end.

Is this true?

That's crazy talk. There are too many job openings. Teams are going to overpay for a mediocre coach this year.

Also... Jumbo is not leaving FSU. His agent is putting it out there to get him a pay raise.

LSU fans are probably the stupidest fans around. They don't realize what they're getting themselves into.

This team was never "that good" but they talked themselves up so much they deluded themselves into thinking they were indestructible. Of course, none of this would be happening if Alabama wasn't good. Stop comparing yourselves to Alabama people- it's a recipe for disaster. Ask Auburn and Tennessee about that. LSU's in for a long 5 years

He is on the right track though - LSU fans were thrilled to be rid of 3rd and Chavis. So he upgraded DC. Just needs to upgrade OC now.

He is easily my favorite LSU football coach. I love the man. But it's time. He is respected and has a gigantic sea of respect and affection in Baton Rouge. But people have Les fatigue, people know what is going to happen before the game ever starts, the team is hard to watch it is so poorly coached, and a giant backlash has organically occurred. He has lost the locker room and the public. He would not get a vote of confidence. As such, it's time to amicably part ways. Hopefully both parties will take the high road.

That would put Mizzou another notch down on the coaching search tier. LSU is no doubt a better coaching destination than Mizzou. As stated already, I fully expect Mizzou to go after Les hard. I don't know if Mizzou would be appealing to Les though.

All we hear is how $$ strapped LSU is. Funny how all of this "private money" can pop out of nowhere to help fire a football coach. FK the kids education but damnit we will win at football.

The 15 million dollar buyout clause that is in Les Miles' contract is what many perceive as one of the bigger hang-ups in making a move.

The money doesn't come from the university. It comes from the booster-run Tiger Athletic Foundation.
