They're gonna have to come out with a lot more than what the investigation turned up yesterday.

Wasn’t that already established yesterday that the info that came out was just the beginning.

Honestly I don't know. There's so much going on here that I'm just taking it as it comes in and enjoying what I can watch right now.

An audit alone won’t be able to turn up what was done with embezzled money after the fact, especially if it was transferred to gift cards. DA or FBI are going to have to get someone to talk which will take more time

Here is what was posted on the rant yesterday...
quote:

TheLakeHealth audit findings on Funes allegations: $810K lost "due to fraudulent activity." "The forensic investigation also revealed two questionable issues that warranted we notify legal counsel for LSU.

quote:

The work by the independent third-party firm has confirmed that Mr. Funes acted alone and was the only member of the organization involved. Over several years, he orchestrated a series of fraudulent transactions that involved the purchase and distribution of gift cards, charter flights and payments to individuals, including forged documents, invoices and signatures. He misled hundreds of people in and outside of our organization.

The forensic investigation also revealed two questionable issues that warranted we notify legal counsel for LSU. Since we are not involved and the outcome does not impact our operations, we will not have any further details or comments on this issue.

LSU's response:

How many recruits could $800,000 possibly buy?

I'll apply the standard SEC mathematical forumula

A Dodge Charger R/T model fully optioned (minus the cold weather package) runs $43,240. With that knowledge we can calculate LSU qualified for maximum of approximately 19 players assuming all funds went to players in the form of Dodge Chargers.

I dont think this touches football. I was under the impression they pay those recruits much more money.

Ah. Not my fault he talks like a 14 year old haha.

I thought he was saying we would be especially fricked.

sadly the model is only built for football recruiting. I don't even know how you calculate a softball recruit? Maybe a Rav 4, a couple flannel shirts and a sensible pair of doc Martin boots.

Is that the amount the guy actually personally stole or the total amount that was misappropriated? If there was a fake job scam going on then that wouldn’t be included in the amount attributed directly to the guy who was fired?

It is potentially so bad that LSU will have to disband it's entire athletic structure and possibly resign from the SEC.

Yep. Some baw laughed at me last week when I said this will eventually involve football.

That’s the total amount that was misappropriated. It seems pretty low if that involves football especially if it was over multiple years.
