Is cignetti that damn good?
I think he is, and it’s amazing to me he’s 64 and largely flown under the radar this long. I see he’s won a lot of games at every stop he’s been as HC.

They were doing that long before him.. Switzer was doing it..Boz got paid $$$ to watch oil rigs go up and down per his book

I’ll be curious to see what happens when Cignetti is forced to actually recruit and develop HS players. Damn near all of his players on this year’s roster came from his JMU team.

Caml your tits, they beat OSU by 3.
Maybe bama just sucks arse.

Cignetti is the new Saban
Cignetti is clearly better than Saban. It isn't even close.

I remember Stoops taking over a 6-6 Oklahoma team and winning the national championship the next year.. everyone thinking oh we just need the right coach we can do the same thing SMH
That’s cool.
But Oklahoma went 5-6 in 98, Stoops took over in 99 and went 7-5, and then won it all in 2000.

He did the same thing at James Madison, the guy has an incredible eye for talent, and he and his staff are incredible at coaching them up.

I'm pulling for them. Just to simply F up the status quo. Tired of the same ol shite.
Same here. Indiana vs Ole Miss would be a great game to watch.

This is an exaggeration. He has some key contributors from the initial JMU pool but he has done a very good job in the portal to round that out.
His best players include:
Mendoza - Cal
Pat Coogan - Notre Dame
Roman Hemby - Maryland
Riley Nowakowski - Wisconsin
Louis Moore - Ole Miss
Khalil Benson - Colorado
Stephen Daley - Kenneesaw State
Kellen Wyatt - Maryland
Lee Beebe Jr - UAB

Last years team was damn near all transfers from the JMU team aside from the QB, this years is more well rounded

I am surprised Bobby Knight took his call.

"and then Bill Snyder comes around and they immediately have success and then maintain a high level of play for nearly two decades."
This is an excellent insight.
Snyder's teams were defined by discipline and trained to execute. Everyone did their job, and they never beat themselves.
It turns out you don't need any 5-stars if everyone executes at a 3-star level. Cignetti's team looks a lot like that.
On more than occasion, I saw Snyder's teams completely change their whole offensive and/or defensive scheme from one week to the next in order to exploit their opponent's weaknesses.
That dude could flat out coach...

Yeah...
KSU started celebrating a little too early, not knowing that the Aggies never quit.
KSU ended up in the Alamo Bowl that year, going against Purdue. They thought the Boilermakers were beneath them. A guy named Drew Brees proved otherwise...

They made the playoffs last year.
He knew exactly what he was doing and brought the guys he wanted using the portal. They are stronger and play smarter than every team they play.
The other big name programs have had too much turnover to understand the caliber of play they are seeing.

Alabama only took two years to go from 6-7 to 12-0 in the regular season under Saban.
It's the right coach at the right time, but KNOWING who the right coach is part research, part luck, and part voodoo.

I don't remember seeing anything like this before. There have been some good turn arounds, and some 10 win seasons even, but not like this.
And it is sounding a lot like the Indiana coach is just making the players work hard, and play as a team. That and being a perfectionist.
The time of finesse is giving way to the time of puking during two-a-day practices.
Hopefully, for one thing, this means those ridiculous pillow helmets will go back to wherever they came from.
