quote:Not really. They set a line. They rarely hit the number. Just because some bet one side and others bet the other doesn't make Vegas correct. Look at LSU, GT, ND and Vandy yesterday.
True but they’re right all the time too. More than anyone else.

You are right. I follow 5 polls in college football, Massey, Saragin, FPI, AP, and Coaches. All still have Texas at 7 or 8 after what I have seen, they should be in the teens.

ESPN had LSU losing at Clemson also.

I know they're off and maybe I used a bad source but Vegas' line for that game has Vandy as the favorite. If it was in BR, Vandy would still be a favorite.
My point (and apologies to LSU fans if my point was offensive) is why is a team ranked so high while someone favored to beat them is ranked so low?
Certainly I could have used other examples in the same rankings but this one did stand out the most.

What are the fundamental issues on the defensive side of the ball?

Well... smart LSU fans are looking at SLU and work out the run game, the worry about ole piss. After that it's uscE... so vandy will have to wait.

The defense is ahead of the offense but the UF offense despite all the malfunctions at QB (5 ints) was out-gaining your team significantly for much of the game.
I do think you still have a couple guys who are vulnerable but the defense is much improved from last year.

They weren't scoring though.

Absolutely true.
But it’s also true they had a TD called back and absent a generational meltdown would’ve had a totally different from an outcome standpoint.
Y’all deserve credit for forcing the turnovers though don’t get me wrong.
We were talking about whether your team is ready to be a top 3 team, that’s a high standard.

I've never understood this take.
They literally only scored the touchdown because they held the guy pass rushing

There was an Ole Miss fan when LF7 went berserk on them that said if not for 5 or so carries they would’ve beaten the shite out of us

Nonetheless shouldn't Vandy be ranked higher than they are? Should LSU be #3?
Poll inertia is a hell of a drug.

You realize the coverage guy had blown his assignment right? The receiver was wide open.

I haven't seen the line, so maybe... maybe not.
But, for certain, you misunderstand the Vegas Braintrust that keeps them in business.
They aren't predicting outcomes of the event. They are producing lines to generate balanced betting based on the anticipation of bettors by kickoff.

I think LSU might legit have the best defense in college football this season. There's no holes, good depth, and you have a couple difference makers at every level.

Sure.
And Lagway gets sacked if they aren't holding, and even if they miss him, he doesn't have time to make the throw.
Your premise is like saying we tackle every receiver on a 4th down pass play and then say we had them stopped if they don't call PI.

If the entire LSU team would’ve died during the game then Florida would’ve won

I was asked to provide examples of issues on defense.
I’ve provided a number of them.
If you want to assume you have a championship level defense without vulnerabilities after getting outgained by a team that threw 5 picks and had numerous other big play opportunities coming off a 16 pt offensive night against a USF team that just lost 42-14 to Miami feel free, I’m not here to argue with you as you clearly have your mind made up.
