I agree not all wins are the same.

That's what I was really getting at. I believe CFDW has an all-time schedule ranking. Alabama and Tennessee are by far the highest in that ranking system because of the SEC.

As for Alabama, it's our own damn fault we're at 827 wins and not 857.

I also have a problem with their formula because of the importance it places on championships. Which they are important, but we all know the bias there was against the south in the early days.

I think it kind of skews the rankings much like Michigan and NDs easy wins in the all time wins ranks.

And FWIW, LSU overall in the 90's was 54-58, and won almost half of those in 1995-96-97 when we won three straight bowl games.

There were still 7 losing seasons in the 1990s for LSU. It is probably why some younger fans try to equate LSU's rise from 2000-present to that of Florida from 1990-present.

And not to nitpick, but LSU was 14th according to CFDW.

Yeah, the 90s sucked balls for LSU football. LSU from 1890-1990 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Florida from 1890-1990, which is why LSU fans get frustrated at the comparison. The programs aren't even in the same stratosphere for that time period.

Also, the other list posted was absolutely terrible. Any list which doesn't have Alabama at #1 is bad, as much as I hate the gumps.

Not a good way though. That puts Miami (OH) ahead of us.

They updated the CFDW all-time rankings again.

Yes. 14th in winning percentage. But LSU was stuck at #12 in number of all time victories for a lot of years, and was actually closer to #11 before 1990.

Yes we had 7 losing seasons, but the 1990's, by far the worst decade in LSU history still was almost .500 overall, as bad as it was.
Of course it was helped by the 26 wins and 3 straight bowl victories in 1995,96,97.

I don't quite understand the comparison of Florida and LSU. LSU before 1990 was a traditional power going back to the early 1900's.
Florida - no.

It'd be fun if there was a year where Bama, ND, OU, tOSU, Michigan, USCw, and Texas all played each other.

I agree, I wouldn't wanna be in a conference with all of those teams. Could you imagine a forum just for fans of those teams?

But it'd be fun to play like ND/OU/Texas/USCw in the OOC one year and then play one of tOSU/Michigan in the playoffs, and then the other for the title.

I also really want Bama to play TCU a few times while Patterson is there.

11. Georgia - 918.83 Schedule Points

This invalidates the entire rankings.

Didn't you guys learn anything from the USC/UGA thread? Georgia always plays an easy schedule.

That's not what I'm seeing on CFDW. You can sort in by time frame, winning percentage, and total wins.

Here is what it returns for LSU from 1869-1999 for total wins.

quote:

Michigan 796
Notre Dame 767
Nebraska 743
Texas 735
Alabama 734
Ohio State 717
Penn State 715
Tennessee 700
Oklahoma 689
Southern Cal 673
Georgia 633
Syracuse 632
Army 617
LSU 610

And 1869-1990. LSU is 13th.

quote:

Michigan 712
Notre Dame 692
Texas 671
Alabama 658
Penn State 646
Nebraska 644
Oklahoma 636
Ohio State 633
Southern Cal 613
Tennessee 610
Army 573
Georgia 565
LSU 561

Schweeeeet!

BTW, just for grins and giggles, where was UF prior to Spurrier's arrival? I can't remember. Wait, that was before you were born probably but I remember 1980 when I don't think UF won a game? And then Pell came along, then Hall, then Spurrier? Did I get that right? Pell cheated his arse off but he got y'all there, Hall did the same. Then Spurrier took the jump they made and turned it into something special down there.

Point is, if UF can make that big of a jump in, let's say thirty years or so, I can only imagine/hope that thirty years from now SC will have done it as well. I will not be around to see it but hopefully my kids and grandkids will be.

We Gamecock fans, we're far more prone to concentrate on the future than the past - for obvious reasons.

auburn is the 6th best in the sec - that kinda puts things in perspective - they needed this dose of reality.

I like their old ranking system. Tennessee and Penn State are clearly better programs historically than LSU and Miami should be ranked higher than Florida. Florida State should also be ranked higher.
