"Joke's on you, SEC fans, he threw half his INTs to Mcneese and Louisiana Tech!"

Lotta fanbases have been bumping their gums about how shitty SL was against state. Pointing to his play against state last year as proof that he wouldn’t be good in the sec.
If anything you should be going after the other fanbases for talking shite.

The whole fanbase or maybe 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 or perhaps just a few thick skulled mouth breathers?
How many exactly were saying this?

He's okay, not great or anything. Turns the ball over too much.

Maybe they were trying different looks in a game setting.

Did you watch the game? Just went through PbP and it confirmed what I saw live: 2 completions more than 10 yards downfield (TD to Harris and 1 other). Leavitt doesn’t get credit for YAC

Yes, college football quarterbacks and their play-callers frequently attempt riskier throws and test aggressive concepts when playing inferior opponents.
While coaches always preach taking care of the football, early-season "cupcake" or non-conference games against lower-tier Group of 5 or FCS schools are often treated by coaching staffs as highly orchestrated, televised scrimmages.
Quarterbacks push the envelope in these games for several strategic reasons:
1. Scripted Offensive "Live-Testing"
Coaches use games against inferior opponents to test the limits of their playbook under live-game conditions. If an offensive coordinator wants to see how their quarterback handles complex, high-risk concepts—such as deep post-routes into tight windows, back-shoulder throws, or trick plays—they will intentionally call them in a low-stakes environment where a turnover won't tank their season.
2. Building Timing with Young Receivers
College football has no official preseason exhibition games. A starting quarterback needs to develop downfield chemistry and trust with newer or younger wide receivers. Against a lesser opponent, a quarterback is much more likely to throw a 50/50 deep ball to let a young receiver try to make a play, knowing that even if it's intercepted, the talent disparity usually ensures their team will still win the game comfortably.
3. Padding Stats and Heisman Campaigns
In modern college football, style points and individual accolades matter. Elite quarterbacks trying to build a Heisman Trophy narrative use games against weaker secondaries to push the ball downfield aggressively. This leads to explosive, high-risk deep shots that generate the massive stat lines and highlight reels required to stay in the national media spotlight.
4. Flaws Can Be Magnified by Boredom
Sometimes the risk isn't fully intentional. When playing a vastly outmatched team, human nature can kick in. Quarterbacks can get bored or overconfident, leading them to break structure, force unnecessary throws into heavy coverage, or try "hero-ball" plays they would never attempt against a top-tier defense.

Leavitt is an SEC QB in the same way Bo Nix is an NFL QB: technically true but an insult to actual QBs

As long as he runs the offense decently, I couldn't care less if he's throwing 30 yard bombs or 3 yards every down.

Need to bring back Coleman Hutzler. Zac Arnett sucks

He only attempted 3 passes of 10+ air yards and none over 20 air yards.
Your defense is good enough to win in spite of him, but beating your chest over a perfectly average win where he completed screen passes makes 0 sense.
I predicted 28-31 points on offense before the game and nothin changed my opinion of the offense/Leavitt
